TOM TOMORROW TOON: The Guantanamo problem

The lower left panel sums up the most we'll get from DLC Democrats on any issue: "See? We tried. Now can we forget about it so I can get back to taking care of the rich with trade deals, privatization, and wars?"

If they were held in similar conditions in a foreign, oil-rich nation, the DLCers would remember. AnotherMcIntosh Apr 2013 #1

We have the most powerful military that the world has ever seen. Obama can do anything with it, including using drones to kill civilians and Americans on foreign soil.

If Cuba had oil under Gitmo and Gitmo was in the hands of a foreign government, the DLCers could push him to demand that the foreign country release the prisoners or face the consequences.

health care again and again.

It made it all the way through to the governor's desk twice, but Arnold wouldn't sign.

The state legislator, Sheila Kuehl, retired before Jerry Brown got in office.

The single payer bill was reintroduced, but somehow didn't muster the votes to pass.

I have a feeling that will be the last we hear of it until Brown is out of office.

Also, how many federal anti-abortion laws did the GOP pass when they controlled all three branches of government, could have got it passed, signed, and upheld by the Supreme Court?

That tells you when an issue is just used as election bait.

Unfortunately, both sides see the their job as serving the same employer, and it isn't us voters.
