Republicans Too Busy Ranting on Fox News to Actually Write Any Bills

Are Republicans even trying? There’s good evidence to suggest they are not.

While I’ve been saying that the GOP is broken and hopelessly dysfunctional, Rachel Maddow has come up with a new name for part of that dysfunction: Republicans are “ post-policy.” To some extent, that’s because they’ll simply oppose whatever Barack Obama proposes, but there’s also an even more interesting aspect of it that they simply have given up on and lost the capacity for developing policy ideas.

And, no, it’s not just because they are conservatives and conservatives are inherently less likely to have policy ideas. A look at the evidence will demonstrate this.

............................

Which leads to the embarrassing fact that no one seems to have noticed about this year’s House Republicans. Over 100 days into the current Congress, their agenda is … almost completely empty.

Belly full of fire. They're trying to keep the fires burning to roust their base, yet cannot find any wood, so they just blow and blow on it.

Is the Obstructionists Union pulling a wildcat strike? Is the New York Mob trying to put the joint in foreclosure so they can rig the auction? You gotta wonder when they run the Capo of the Bain Boiz for mayor or waddever..

I can go one further......many Democrats don't write bills anymore either.

Legislators quit writing bills long ago. ALEC writes the bills. This comes after, of course, your signed oath to Grover Norquist.

A rather simple process. Run and win on an emotional wedge issue, while totally clueless about most issues, and rubber stamp the legislation that ALEC hands you.

Hell, now days, calling Elizabeth Warren a pseudo "Indian" is a viable strategy to get elected. You don't even need wedge issues any more.
