Russia Had Wiretap on Tamerlan Tsarnaev

http://talkingpointsmemo.com/news/russia-had-wiretap-on-tamerlan-tsarnaev.php

WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. officials say Russian authorities secretly recorded a conversation in 2011 in which one of the Boston bombing suspects vaguely discussed jihad with his mother.

Officials say a second call was recorded between the suspects’ mother and a man under FBI investigation living in southern Russia.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the ongoing case.

They say the Russians shared this intelligence with the U.S. in the past few days.

It was on DU a few days ago.

ETA: I'm guessing that Occupy was considered a far greater existential threat to the powers that be than the Brothers Tsarnaev.

Sounds like that may have been done in response to this wire tapping tip.

The reporting has been absolutely abysmal and it's not all due to the news organizations I think, officials seem to have really difficult time getting out an accurate story.

After all, the cops had a shootout with an unarmed person, the same person shot himself in the throat with a non-existent weapon evidently.

10. Well, "shootout" is just something said in the vernacular...

I don't put much stock in an initial "shootout" report. It is, technically, a shootout, I suppose, if you're shooting someone out of hiding because he won't surrender.

I don't know about the throat thing, and I don't think it matters much. It's irrelevant to the case against him for murder.

I think some people (I don't mean you) are looking for inconsistencies and excuses for the man, or reasons to blame authorities for something. It ended without another bombing, so that's a good thing and means something.
