Someone talk me down.. I cannot believe the hate and sheer stupidity of some of the American people.. I tell myself these are just a few crackpots but evidence tells me there are far more of these than I ever imagined. I was just surfing U-Tube and finding the craziest shit. Here are some headlines and snippets from videos that I found:

I can only believe that this is the deep seated face of racism in disguise..What else would account for such insanity? Or is it just that with nearly 300 million people, I have got to expect a few nuts.

7. While racism is certainly alive and well, a lot of the remarks

are the result of of the RW hate machine that spews endless garbage into the minds of that segment of our population that wants to believe that Democrats in general and liberals in particular are destroying our country.

When you have shit for brains, it's provides a fertile field for the seeds of ignorance.

on DU, the hair-on-fire Gun Nutz are a very loud, but very small minority of Americans. They like to pretend that they speak for ALL American gun owners, but in reality they do not. The NRA has brain-washed a segment of our society that already has racist and anti-government leanings, and they definitely pose a threat to themselves and others. This is why we need meaningful background checks, because these people are indeed dangerous.

Estimate vary, but I've seen figures of anywhere between 5% to 10% (15 million to 30 million) Americans actually believe that the government is coming to take away their guns. Most of these people are located in the Red States, which have the largest number of guns. Not a very large number, but still troubling.

10. Yep, that BS is out there

I wasted my time last night arguing with right-wingers posting that garbage. I was called a commie, socialist, libtard, in addition to the nonsense they called Obama. The usual, "Obama is destroying the country, he's is a terrorist. Global Warming is a hoax."

It seems they are cut out of the same mold. Their brains are all wired the same. I get them even angrier when I tell them their paranoia and mental conditions are covered under ObamaCare. Then the insults really fly at me. LOL.

One thing they have in common. They get really angry. And they start calling you every name they can come up with.

I really think someone should do a psychological study on these folks. Actually they have. But the part I'm interested in is the hate and anger. These people are almost foaming at the mouth sometimes. I mean they really, really hate Obama. I mean, I didn't like Bush but I don't go to the extremes of hatred and name calling.

The part I don't understand is some of this nonsense comes from people I know who are very smart. One guy is an electrical engineer and he's been brainwashed into believing Obama is a Muslim, Kenyan, whatever. I think the guy got brainwashed when he went with his church group to visit Israel.

But anyway, I agree. That nonsense is everywhere. I'm trying to find coping skills to try to ignore it. One idea I had is just to get off the social networking sites because that's where it's plastered all over.

My wife, who is actually a research psychologist, told me to just let them be. She told me I could get one of them really angry and they may try to do something. I keep asking her, since she is the psychologist why they are like that. She says they just are and you aren't going to change them.

11. While I am certainly

not medically qualified to diagnose these malcontents, I believe that their anger and hate comes from nurture, and not nature. Many of them are taught hate and racism from birth, and to them it is both right and normal to hate what they don't understand or agree with. To them and their teachers, hate is a God-given right, and their anger at anyone who looks, behaves, or believes different from them is righteous.

Mix that anger and warped view of life with guns, and you have a seriously dangerous individual on your hands. Incite enough of these warped, angry, and armed individuals with lies about the meaning of the Second Amendment, the threat to it from "Libruls," and an impassioned metaphoric cross-burning sermon about "Muslims", and now you've got an armed and dangerous mob on your hands. The NRA and fundamentalist pseudo-Christians excel at the latter.

The Southern Poverty Law Center, and the FBI keep tabs on thousands of these whackos, and occasionally luck out and actually find grounds to arrest a few of them. Unfortunately, they are quickly replaced.
