"SNIP...................................

Earlier this month, news broke that CNN was looking to relaunch Crossfire, the famous debate show that pitted two pundits -- one liberal, one conservative -- against one another on the political issues of the day.

Sources now tell POLITICO that the network is in discussions with former Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich and former Obama deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter about roles on the show.

"They are talking to Cutter and to Gingrich," a source familiar with the discussions said. "[Cutter] is in discussions; Newt is in discussions too," another source confirmed.

Spokespeople with CNN did not respond to a request for comment regarding the news. Both Cutter and a Gingrich spokesperson did not respond to emails requesting confirmation.

6. Bill Press was the liberal panelist on crossfire before he began his national radio show.

He then hosted "Press & Buchanan" a similar show on MSNBC after leaving CNN in 2002.

Former Rep. Geraldine Ferraro was a liberal panelist.

if I were to relaunch crossfire today I'd choose these people over the long-irrelevant Gingrich and obscure Cutter:

(left)
Anthony Weiner (if he can't become mayor at least he will still have a media platform)
Eliot Spitzer (another smart ex pol w/media exp on current tv viewpoint show)
Keith Olbermann (missed him! would like to see him demolish cons!)
Jennifer Granholm ( ditto with Spitzer)
Janeane Garofalo (as a feminist she could bring her challenges to patriarchy to the masses!)
Sam Seder (like him on Ring of Fire and the majority Report)

(right)
Michael Steele (isn't he pretty moderate for a former Republican cmte chair?)
Peggy Noonan (former Reagan speechwriter who actually can be reasonable at times)
Greg Gutfeld (the bigoted jackass Fox host, just to see him lose and howl)

CNN has truly lost its way. I still like Anderson Cooper, but the others are the dredges of talking heads. Who wants to watch Newt pontificate. Throw-up!

9. CNN can't get any stupider if they hire that bloated ego.

I mean, really.

Newt is a walking, talking self-promoting bloated ego.

I can't imagine anyone worth their salt willing to spend any time listening to that asshat. Yup, CNN is more stupid than I thought.
