There was a link on the front page of Huffington Post last night to the Buzzfeed article.
And the police are looking to see if there is a connection between the two brothers and the unsolved murders.
So, it not a joke - it's real.

...as long as the police are talking to the media. I guess the problem with the manhunt was that, allegedly, the police weren't talking to the media.

Fair enough.

a scenario in which Tamerlan became a religious nut and turned on his friend the smoker of that "evil weed" and roomates, one of whom drove a Mercedes possibly afforded by dealing drugs. The marijuana spread over the dead bodies and $5000 left at the scene (evil drug profits?) could be interpreted as an overt statement to say "here's what you get for messing around with that evil stuff!" Maybe Dzhokhar got some drugs from them as well and Tamerlan was disgusted that they were corrupting his little brother. Tamerlan was a tough guy boxer and probably strong enough to take on more than one average-sized male with or without the aid of a weapon.

Disclaimer: This is a hypothetical scenario, not a factual account.
