RCMP foil plot to derail a New York/Toronto passenger train on the Canadian side of border. AQ link

The RCMP have arrested two people in connection with a homegrown terror plot to derail a New York-to-Toronto passenger train on the Canadian side of the border, CTV News has learned.

The arrests were part of an ongoing investigation conducted by the RCMP and the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, which “had been going on for a considerable amount of time,” Fife said.

I am told that the two people who have been arrested, they are linked somehow to al Qaeda,” Fife reported Monday afternoon.

Fife said it remains unclear how the two are connected to the international terror organization.

...because they couldn't pull it off in the US? They seem giddy at the prospect that "THEY" stopped a plot while "WE" (read: Obama) couldn't.

but eventually switched to CBC because CNN clearly had no idea that most Canadian press conferences are bilingual. I can understand french just fine but felt bad for the broader American audience, lol.

I'm glad they stopped it. Zero relation to Boston apparently. Also, the guy on CNN said Canada has tremendous success in stopping these plots because they have an RCMP outreach program which encourages those in the Muslim community to report anything of concern. I found that interesting. Does the FBI have anything similar, does anyone know?

...not the Amtrak train from toronto to NYC. Since there were arrests in Quebec, likely the Toronto-Montreal line, which is VIA's equivalent of the NE Corridor.
