1. Ms Dowd is ignorant and full of herself, as has been obvious for a long time.

Presidents in the USA are weak by design, Kings were not well thought of, and it is only the most exceptional of them that master Congress. It is no accident that LBJ and Obama were both Senators first.

She changed a while ago. Not that I would expect any columnist to be rah rah Obama all the time, but she became vituperative toward him without merit.

Perhaps she expected to be "schmoozed" due to her past fairly progressive slants and then got her feelings hurt when he didn't fawn?

Don't think she has been doing her homework lately.

3. Dowds criticism is very flawed. Criticize the president where it is warranted

The press is amazing, within a few hours some media outlets were criticizing Obama because he did not immediately call the Boston bombing a terrorist attack

Funny how they gloss over their extreme incompetence from accusing people terrorists who wise rent, to saying they caught the perpetrators when they didn't

5. I have NO respect for Maureen Dowd, none.

She has talent as a writer but her talent is not to be respected. At another time I would make the following characterization of her without preface, I mean this rhetorically only, but she is and long has been a journalistic bomb thrower always seeking to draw attention to herself, with a clever twist of words and knife.

6. The simple fact is a lose like this is bad for us

I'm as much of a "what the hell do you expect Obama to do?" person as anyone on DU, but this is pretty much a fiasco. If the votes weren't there, it should never have gone forward, and if Reid and/or Obama thought the votes where there and were that wrong, that's a huge screw-up on their part.
