1. my mum's childhood friend Beryl Applegate (aged 12) was killed by a bomb

APPLEGATE, Beryl
Civilian. Beryl was injured as a result of an air raid on 4th September 1940 at her home, 14 Council Houses, Somerton Road, Martham. She died at The Norfolk and Norwich Hospital on 6th September 1940 from her injuries. Beryl was just 12 years old. She was the daughter of Charles and Phoebe Margaret Applegate. Commemorated in the County Borough of Norwich Civilian War Dead Register.
