The surviving suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings suffered an injury to his throat and may not be able to talk, a federal official told CNN on Saturday, possibly hindering attempts by authorities to question him about a motive in the attack.

(34,845 posts)Maybe it wasn't an arm injury, though, just bleeding from somewhere else.

(8,303 posts)No one's going to be interrogating him in any way for a while.
He received at least one gunshot wound in the shootout, and then was untreated for most of a day. Loss of blood would cause dehydration, and that combined with shock and exposure probably started lung inflammation. He will be pretty darned sick for a while. He also could have started infections in the wound(s).

I don't think anyone's going to have a chance to ask him a bunch of questions before a lawyer is involved.

(25,415 posts)He is probably totally out of it from his wounds. I think in order to get answers, the doctors need to be left to do their job. Get him well so he can be questioned.

(18,672 posts)probably to his writing hand. I've heard so much BS and misinformation the past 48 hours I really don't know what to believe. Who robbed the 7-11? Who was the naked man? How did the suspects load 6 bombs, etc into the hijacked car? How did the kid run over his brother if he escaped on foot? I can't wait until the full story comes out. Until then, I'm tuning out, because the internets are rife with the most amazing conspiracies.

(75,480 posts)He's gotta be wondering why he's survived. Well, he can type on a computer or write if he can't talk. They said he was shot in his leg not his arms or hands.

(10,952 posts)answers from the boy then verbal ones. Oral statements can become spontaneous utterances. Written responses gives a person more time to think therefore it is harder to trick someone into giving away answers they don't want to give.

Audio/Video is one way to catch the spontaneous something and does help with keeping down the conspiracy nonsense.
Any word if it is a long term type injury?
