'The president's touch was a blessing'

President Barack Obama talks with Massachusetts General Hospital staff on Thursday, Apr 18, while visiting patients that were harmed in the Boston bombings.

President Obama visits relative of Rollins pastor in Boston hospital

Bill White, brother-in-law of Rollins College campus pastor Pat Powers, was lying in a hospital bed in a Boston hospital Thursday when President Barack Obama walked in.

White had suffered severe injuries, including the amputation of his right leg above the knee, in Monday's bombing at the Boston Marathon.

"He was feeling very angry," Powers said Friday. "The president came in and said: 'How ya doin, Bill?' It immediately changed his spirits. He's now determined to get better. He's determined to play golf. He's determined to coach soccer. The president's touch was a blessing."

His sister, Mary Jo White, suffered a broken bone and shrapnel injuries. His nephew, Kevin White, had cuts and bruises and later went into shock. The group had just left a restaurant near the finish line of the marathon when the first of two bombs exploded about 10 feet away.

I truly feel the sentiments they express are honest and heartfelt. They really do CARE about people, their well being, and the country as a whole.

I am so proud that these two people are the leaders of this nation.

so close to this blast that it left emotional and physical injuries. It would be good if they could all meet again in the future so they don't feel like they're alone.

people and their lots. They don't fake it for photo-ops like Duhbya had to do. The most evident moment was when he stood on the pile after 9/11 with the firefighter by his side . . . and then he did nothing to make the Republicans loosen the purse-strings for those same first responders who desperately needed help.

Thanks so much for sharing, bigtree.
