I am relieved for all of you there, for us who watched in horror and I am thankful he is alive. All I could think about was my boys at 19. His future is not bright anymore, he will pay for this and maybe we will learn what caused so much anger.

Although the whole, sorry story is heartbreaking. Our son is 18 and goes off to Tufts in the Fall. I remember my experience at age 19. It can be a volatile time for a young man. My heart goes out to the victims families, and to this boy, and to his family.

been able to say anything good about cops, but I offer a sincere "Well done" to all involved in bringing him in alive.

Now try him in an open, normal federal court proceeding in the District of Massachusetts. And when convicted, lock him up and let the profilers and psychiatrists study him.

however, I can't IMAGINE what this manhunt's final tab will be. I'd like to see that final bill - divided by the number of folks who were victims. I'll bet the cost per victim is astronomical - I won't argue that it's TOO MUCH. Thing is, I'd like to know how that cost would compare to the many single homicides involving tan or black-skinned Or ANY Americans EVERY DAY. My point is that there's really no equity for the gun slaughter that is perpetrated in the USA on a daily basis. If it ain't Newtown or Boston - ah well......

But, all of the cops involved did a great job. I disagree with you, their work was beyond what we ask of them and pay them for, many of them routinely risked their lives.

They allowed law enforcement and the first responders to do their job instead of going off half-cocked. When that woman saw the suspect in the boat, she called the authorities and then stayed put.

I hate to think if this had played out in some of our redder states, how vigilante justice might have been sought and a bigger death toll resulted.

A big hand to Boston from the mayor to the law, to the rank and file citizen!

I guess that is probably what everyone else is expressing too but I will not join in the "celebration". This is just too awful of a series of events.
