If he's still alive and wants to stay that way, it's pretty much his choice.

He needs to get butt naked, show his hands, freeze in place, and announce that he's all done. Otherwise, based on what has already gone on; I don't expect a single LEO to place themself at risk and would fully support a decision to shoot that boat and whoever's aboard into kindling and hamburger.

...this 18Echo gives a big ten-for. Enough is enough. He's had ample chances to end this. His brother is dead and he reportedly drove over him. Whatever frame he's in, he needs to get a grip.

which is why the cops have been so cautious in approaching that boat.

In the meantime, he probably will bleed out.

As an MD, I just want him out of that boat so he can get medical care. It's my job to look at the situation like that.

be tasked with approaching a suspect who has already used IEDs, thrown explosives at other LEOs, and whose accomplice was wearing a suicide vest.

Maybe a relative, maybe the older brother's wife, maybe a school friend.

TV news is saying they want him alive to find out what made them decide to do this.
