Federal Disaster Relief: This is a problem we need to fix now.

Democrats vote for federal relief for disaster plagued red states without even thing twice.
Katrina, The TN floods, Gulf Coast oil spill etc just to name a few that occurred recently.
Republican officials filibuster and vote against any relief for blue states after their disasters like Sandy or the 9/11 responders bill.

Set aside the fact that the GOP voted against relief for a natural disaster but want the American people to pick up the tab for a tragedy created by a private company.

Congress needs to pass a bill that automates the spending of disaster relief money when a state governor and the President agree and jointly declare a disaster zone together.
Otherwise we need to just leave each state to their own devices and budgets to deal with these issues but that is not who we are as a people.

So what do you say Texas?
We'll be there for you when you are killed by the shoddy operating practices of your employers that are enabled by your lack of laws and regulations if you will be there for us when a random natural disaster occurs.

A pair of Republican lawmakers who voted against federal aid in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy are now looking for federal aid in the wake of the deadly explosion in West, Texas.

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz lambasted the Sandy Aid package, voting against the measure in January. Cruz issued a statement explaining that he voted against the aid because it included a number of spending measures that were not related to disaster relief, including "Smithsonian repairs, upgrades to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration airplanes, and more funding for Head Start."

However, in Washington Thursday, Cruz said that he was "working to ensure that all available resources are marshaled to deal with the horrific loss of life and suffering that we've seen" after an explosion at a fertilizer plant in Texas leveled the plant and nearby houses and business, claiming the lives of at least a dozen people and injuring hundreds more.

FEMA has reportedly been in close contact with officials in Texas to organize aid, relief and support to the West area.
