To much of this stuff will get any one down. Just step back for a bit. The world will keep spinning and will be there when you get back from your break.

My parents went there last year and loved it. Said it was one of the most beautiful places they've ever been.

They're having a problem of too many of their residents moving to Australia, so their population is slowly shrinking. They may have a "conservative" party in power right now, but it's far more liberal than anything we're used to

right at the time whites were leaving South Africa--apartheid ending--
and the job my hubby was interested in in Christchurch had just
been filled (by someone from South Africa). We weren't interested
in the jobs available in Wellington or Auckland...so...no move to NZ.
Also, they were just doing away with universal health care.

I know my GF doesn't have health insurance; she just goes to a health center when she needs one. Even mental health is paid for

It's been nineteen years now since y'all checked. And I know they're still losing residents to Australia for the jobs over there.

Here's a site covering their health system (I think it's a government site) : http://www.ssnz.govt.nz/living-in-new-zealand/health/

And here's their immigration site: http://www.immigration.govt.nz/

I've got to look at the immigration for bringing my GF here. She fell in love with the Hill Country of Texas when we visited my parents there and now wants us to move there!

On the other hand we also have the occasional smartly produced television drama - so it's not a total victory.

Apeman by the Kinks

"I think I'm so sophisticated, 'cause I'm living my life like a good homo sapiens
But all around me everybody's multiplying, and they're walking round like flies, man
So I'm no better than the animals sitting in the cages in the zoo, man
'cause compared to the flowers and the birds and the trees -- I am an apeman

I think I'm so educated and I'm so civilized 'cause I'm a strict vegetarian
And with the over population, and inflation and starvation, and the crazy politicians
I don't feel safe in this world no more, I don't want to die in a nuclear war
I want to sail away to a distant shore, and make like an apeman

I'm an apeman
I'm an ape, apeman
Oh, I'm an apeman

I'm a king-kong man
I'm a voodoo man
Oh, I'm an apeman

'cause compared to the sun that sits in the sky
Compared to the clouds as they roll by
Compared to the bugs and the spiders and flies
I am an apeman.

La la la la...

In man's evolution he's created the city and the motor traffic rumble
But give me half a chance and I'd be taking off my clothes and living in the jungle
'cause the only time that I feel at ease is swinging up and down in a coconut tree
( From: http://www.elyrics.net )
Oh what a life of luxury -- to be like an apeman

I'm an apeman
I'm an ape, apeman
Oh, I'm an apeman

I'm a king-kong man
I'm a voodoo man
Oh, I'm an apeman

I look out the window, but I can't see the sky
The air pollution is a-fogging up my eyes
I want to get out of this city alive
And make like an apeman

La la la la...

Come on and love me -
Be my apeman girl
And we'd be so happy -
In my apeman world

I'm an apeman
I'm an ape, apeman
Oh, I'm an apeman

I'm a king-kong man
I'm a voodoo man
Oh, I'm an apeman

I'll be your Tarzan and you'll be my Jane
I'll keep you warm and you'll keep me sane
We'll sit in the trees and eat bananas all day
Just like an apeman

I'm an apeman
I'm an ape, apeman
Oh, I'm an apeman

I'm a king-kong man
I'm a voodoo man
Oh, I'm an apeman

I don't feel safe in this world no more, I don't want to die in a nuclear war
I want to sail away to a distant shore, and make like an apeman

La la la la..."

They take paradise, and put up a parking a lot.

Every time I find a great remote place, capitalists come in and exploit it, the place fills up with people, and I have to leave and find another great remote place.

This happens to me in 10 year cycles.

I wish you luck.
