Newt Gingrich's Epic Flameout

Just a few comments here.

1) Romney has really gotten under Gingrich's skin. It's almost endearing to hear Gingrich fly off the cuff about the awfulness of the American political system and how Romney is basically able to buy his way to victory while telling lies with a straight face even as the Press largely fails to call him on it.

Sorry, Newt. You and your Republican pals made this bed for your corporate fat cat contributors. Now Romney, the pinnacle masterwork of corporatist machine politics, is using the world Reagan and Newt created to buy himself a nomination with lots of money, coiffed sideburns, lots of cash, packaged lies, lots of money, a complacent stenographic media, lots of corporate moolah, and a gleaming smile. Oh, and did I mention the corporate cash? Well, now Newt and Reagan's moaning ghost get to lie in it.

he's just pissed because he didn't get support from the big money for HIS SuperPac. I sure didn't hear about him turning down the millions from casino owner, Adelson, and his wife.

Newt did his part in ensuring there would be a Supreme Court of the RIGHT persuasion to rule on Citizens United, he just didn't think he wouldn't benefit by it.

I have no doubt Gingrich would be singing a different tune if he were flush with cash like Romney is. Or if he had more establishment backing. Or if he had any advantage at all that Romney does. If Newt had 10 Sheldon Adelsons instead of one, it would be a different story.

This is pretty much sour grapes. Newt feels that he deserves the nomination. That's not unusual of course. Most candidates tend to feel they deserve to win, or else they wouldn't be running. The funny part comes when they start losing because it's always somebody else's fault.

Despite all of the Romney's money, I don't think that's the main reason Newt's losing (though it does help). Newt's biggest problem is the same as it was when he entered the race. He's Newt Gingrich. People just aren't going to rally around him, no matter how much he thinks they should.
