"Take me off your mailing list. Freak."

Exchange of the Day

Missouri State Senator Brian Nieves (R) sent an email to his distribution list and received this reply from a constituent: "Take me off your mailing list. Freak."

Not very friendly, but the Riverfront Times reports Nieves fired off "a series of lengthy, angry, incredibly bizarre" e-mails in response.

An example: "Wow. Your communications are so thought provoking, well written, and intelligent. Perhaps you secretly want to be on my distribution list because every time you send me a message, your email is recaptured and put on my distribution list. I'm tiring of taking you off every time you email me AGAIN so unless you are in love with me or have some other sort of sick obsession with me (sorry, I'm straight as an arrow) you should probably stop emailing me so that you don't keep getting put back on the list. Should I type these instructions slower? Are you having a hard time understanding? BTW - I archive ALL questionable emails like yours in case there's ever any doubt about who got ugly first. Go back to the grade school playground where people you can successfully bully and out smart are playing cuz junior... You are way out of your league with me."

Nieves is the host of a morning talk radio show called "The Patriot Enclave" on KWMO 1350 AM in Washington, MO and functions as KWMO's marketing director. He and his wife also operate Nieves Enterprises and Hwy 66 Auto Sales. Additionally, Nieves serves as a high school substitute teacher and is also a Zone Pastor of Living Bread Church. Nieves frequently speaks to groups about small business operations, concentrating in the areas of professional development and team building.

Little asshole. Looks like he's a Ryan clone:

No insult to Duers but it amazes when I go to a forum or Youtube and just goggle at the types of people who will not let something go. They always have to have the last word. I really just don't get it. Someone says something nasty to me on the net and I could care less. I don't know them, I realize the net is filled with people like that, who cares? Move on with your life. This state senator is that type of person to a tee. He really must not have any experience with the net and its denizens. First not realizing there's always someone who will disagree, sometimes vociferously, but more important that this insane back and forth is just digging himself deeper and deeper into a hole because once it's out there it's forever and it WILL get coverage.

In fact, he's not even in my universe. However I did graduate from Internet 101. I also know that it is possible that his email list becomes a well known spam list. It is amazing what an email blacklist can do - the main email providers use blacklists to filter spam. The CAN-SPAM Act has absolutely nothing to do with blacklists. It is easily possible for a .gov address to be considered hijacked and that is enough. It also takes time to get removed from the blacklist.

The blacklist doesn't stop the email transit per se, it is a flag to the internet service provider that the email from so and so is likely spam based on being on the blacklist. How the ISP handles it is up to them. Google will kindly place it in your spam for you if it is blacklisted.

Washington, MO. is about an hour and change outside the St. Louis suburbs. His district is stuffed full to bursting with "teh stoopid"...I believe that the guy with the "Get a brain Morans" sign was from his area...in fact, now that I have seen that image of him...I am wondering what the freak would look like if dressed like that iconic photo...methinks the freak doth protest too much!
