(29,067 posts)I think Whitney would take issue with at least that part of your description, bringing,
as it does, an image of Heidi in the Alps.
But to each his own -- My husband never liked her style either.
Many people loved it, though, and It was a huge hit among the troops
who were, at the time, leaving to serve in the First Gulf War.
It was so popular, in fact, it was made into a best selling single.

(8,646 posts)My hometown - yes that is pretty much at every game I've been to in the last few years. Of course O Canada is easier to sing for us non-singers. And we tend to regard it more as a 'party song' and we definitely don't treat our national anthem with the same reverence as Americans treat theirs. It was a little bit strange the first time I went to a major league baseball game in the US and how everybody stood at attention with their hands over their hearts - so serious - when the anthem came on. It was an interesting difference in culture.
