(7,044 posts)Massachusetts was just making things "convenient" by commemorating the day -- with the Marathon and all the rest -- on Monday, April 15. Patriot's Day is tomorrow.

(11,464 posts)Back when Waco happened-I have to be honest.
I never knew that there were terrroristic rightwing extremists groups that wanted to overthrow the government.
I never knew that people were stockpiling guns for such terroristic actions.
Only when I realized that Koresh was the least of the problems in the group, did the entire thing make sense.
Then they killed federal agents.
Then one of them inside blew them all up.
I do know Janet Reno was very patient. I like Janet Reno.
She gave them all the time in the world.
Then they killed.
And if today's security is available, maybe someone would have called McV in.
McV, who festered conspiracy theories in his brain and killed all those kids and people.
And like most criminals, this terrorist, this conspiracy theory believer, was in actuality
stupid. He got caught for a mundane thing.
The cop didn't even know then who he was arresting.
And from what you read, McV was also stockpiling guns and bullets and wished he had done that in many events, not just one.
Despicable these terrorists. Rightwing extremists that hate the government. Hate Taxes.
And have such a vast network of supporters to this day.
Like the killer of Dr. Tiller.
Like the one who did the Atlanta olympic park.
Haters of America. Haters of mankind. Hate hate hate.
All they seem to love are their guns and bullets and weapons.
I remember the people at Oklahoma City killed. The kids.
I drove to Oklahoma City on my way crosscountry and saw the monument.
It was late at night when I arrived there. It was quiet. It was eerie.
Very ghost like.
Very sad.
Tears rolling down while I was there.
effected me like the first time I was at the Vietnam memorial
Very, very ghost like.

(43,181 posts)There's the fiery end to the Branch Davidian siege, which was a main motivator for Timothy McVeigh in the Oklahoma City bombing. McVeigh's OKC bomb in turn was said to be an inspiration for Eric Harris, one of the Columbine shooters. Harris and Klebold were then praised by Sueng Hui Cho just before he shot up the Virginia Tech campus.
It's just a chain of bloody tragedy, all in mid April.

(188 posts)Usually I see something in the paper about it, but I've seemed to have missed it. At 107 years I doubt there's anyone left to roll in front of the cameras.
