Yesterday was Bookmobile Day. Today is Animal Crackers Birthday.

You can find an event to go with pretty much any and everyday, week and month on the calendar with either google or wiki and rationalize any conclusions you want from the assembled data.

but the odds of being harmed are very very low. And being careful would not really help in these instances unless you want to be so paranoid that you stay home from work and school.

These have nothing to do with each other but I thought I'd add them to your list of April horrors. it is amazing how awful April is. And the man-made disasters you mention, I am fairly certain, are planned to coincide with Hitler's birthday or to avenge Waco, or both.

N. B. - April 19 is the true date. Massacusetts was just making things "convenient" by marking the day of commemoration -- with the marathon and all the rest -- on Monday, April 15 -- a date which will live in infamy.

Timothy McVeigh chose April 19th to bomb Oklahoma City in honor of the anniversary of the battle of Lexington and Concord (beginning of the American Revolution). So a couple of these at least did have intentional tie-ins to the date.

They did leave some written record of their planning. Apparently, it left ambiguities as to the planned date. They may have intended to do it on April 19th, but had delays in their prep work.

Man, it seems like every time I get lazy on the double-checking of sources, somebody calls me on it, and it turns out I got it wrong. You'd think I'd learn a lesson from that.

Don't worry. I'm usually diligent about checking, but it is that one time where:

1) I was too damned lazy to look it up to confirm, or
2) I got cocky and really thought my recollection was 100%

It's very rare that I do the above, but when I do, sure enough, I'm busted.

It happens to the best of us. Don't sweat it.

OK, here is what the "Urban Dictionary says:

So far the majority of you are incorrect.
420's origin IS known.
the term 420 originated at San Rafael High School, in 1971, among a group of about a dozen pot-smoking wiseacres who called themselves the Waldos, who are now pushing 50. The term was shorthand for the time of day the group would meet, at the campus statue of Louis Pasteur, to smoke pot. Intent on developing their own discreet language, they made 420 code for a time to get high, and its use spread among members of an entire generation.
So there ya go, someone's parents out there invented the term 4/20.
And remember this:
There are NOT 420 chemicals in Weed. It's about 315, the num. goes up or down depending on what you're smoking.
I stand corrected.

How many of those people who make fun, are the same ones that 24/7/365 sleep with their trusted gun/bullets by their side afraid of boogiemen at 1am, 2am,3am,4am,all day long?

Then say we shouldn't be worried.

I fell asleep early last night and woke up around 2am.

WTF happened in Waco last night?
I don't understand, and there are not much threads about it.
That was an accident coincidental to the time?

NY TV doesn't have much about it, but of course, seems we can't believe the tv much anymore so I don't know what to think.

After 9/11 there was a rumor going 'round that terrorists were planning to bomb an unspecified mall on a specific date. A friend of mine at work said she wouldn't go to a mall that day. "Better safe than sorry," she told me. I say better sorry than safe, because to live in fear is worse than dying.

BEGIN on the 20th, or END on the 20th - or what is the actual rule for this sort of woo?

If a catastrophe occurs in another part of the year, how does one fix the blame for that? Are there enough despots/evildoers to cover the entire year for blame-fixing?
