Finally, good comes from wars

I heard a surgeon on the radio who had treated many wounds while a medic in Iraq similar to those in Boston. He is a marathon runner and went to Mass Gen to help out.

He said that before the wars, if you got your leg half blown off, and went through further amputation, the morbidity rate was high. But, with all those who suffered through loss of limbs in the wars, there has been tremendous sea change in returning amputees to normal life with advanced technology and more mobile and lifelike prosthetic devices.
