OMFG -Wife of ex-judge confesses in Texas DA slayings

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/feedarticle/10751598
<snip>
Authorities say the wife of a former judge has confessed to being involved in the shooting deaths of a North Texas district attorney, his wife and an assistant prosecutor.

Kim Lene Williams was arrested early Wednesday. Kaufman County sheriff's spokesman Lt. Justin Lewis says Williams is being charged in all three deaths. Lewis says she is being held on $10 million bond.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Williams told investigators Tuesday that she was involved in the shootings of Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland, his wife, Cynthia, and one of his prosecutors, Mark Hasse.

The investigation has also focused on her husband, Eric Williams, whom McLelland and Hasse successfully prosecuted for theft.

The McLellands were found dead March 30, two months after Hasse was slain.

but someone that I know that lives in Kaufman says that her husband (the JP), Eric Williams, is way too stupid to pull anything like this off.

I think this is really going to be a twisted story once it comes out.

But very strange.

A probable cause affidavit says the ex-judge sent an email one day after the McLellands' bodies were discovered March 30 implying there would be another attack if authorities didn't respond to various demands. The email was sent from his personal computer.

And this man was a Justice of the Peace. The folks who voted for him should be very ashamed of themselves.

Maybe all of the "Mexican Mafia" talk was put out there for a reason?

One thing that needs to be made clear though for those that don't live here...a Justice of the Peace is a locally elected office that basically overseas traffic tickets, marriages, small claims court.

It isn't a "Judge" in the truer sense of the word.

They're a local Judge Judy position. Not a criminal court type judge. They're usually someone that's been around the community for awhile and people recognize the name in smaller communities.

We had one once who had a serious problem with getting drunk and then getting naked in his bass boat.

I know the feeling. We had to call our local one to commit someone to Terrell and we had to wait for him to sober up first.

Our ex- Chief of Police went to PRISON for that. They said that he removed stuff from the evidence room and was convicted.

The conviction ended up being overturned for lack of evidence...but he spent quite a bit of time in prison due to it.

And then, on his way back into the county, was arrested on child molestation charges--apparently his ex-wife's who has a relationship with another law enforcement official accused him of molesting her daughter 10 years ago or some such shit. He never even made it home before he went back to prison. I have watched innocent people chewed up and swallowed.

Not to say that I don't believe justice should be served if these folks are guilty...but I am not sure we have heard the entire story.

This is small town Texas "just-us". Jungle survival...whatever you want to call it. Get them before they get you. I honestly really hate it sometimes...

And the horrible and dire consequences of the idle and benign speculation was...?

Lynchings? Mob rules? Extra judicial assassinations? A glass of tea spilled on shag carpeting left over from the seventies?

The horror... the horror.

Speculation is fun and, as you note, largely inconsequential. The lesson, rather, is that you're probably, like, wrong planet wrong. Not a little wrong. But way, way off. And more so the more your speculation aligns with your pre-existing philosophies.

Because news and politics are not the same thing, but having the stations brand themselves by politics leads to treating all news as politics.
