Someones friend, neighbor or coworker concealed bombs in two heavy, dark bags and dropped them near the Boston Marathon finish line, authorities said, as an investigation still in its early stages turned to the possibility of a homegrown terrorist.
The FBI-led probe of the April 15 bombing drew a clearer picture yesterday of the devices that killed three people and injured more than 170 others in Boston in order to draw out clues from the public.
The explosives may have been contained in ordinary metal pressure cookers and packed with shrapnel to maximize casualties. Both were delivered to the blast site inside dark nylon bags or backpacks, according to Richard DesLauriers, the special agent in charge of the Boston FBI office.
Twenty-six hours into the probe, DesLauriers asked members of the public to search their memories for any recollection of someone who may have talked about the marathon as a target or who showed an interest in explosives. The unexplained sound of a blast in a remote area might have signaled a test run, he said.

(20,600 posts)I bet it was an angry white man or men, current or former member of a right wing extremist group, or a lone wolf individual ala Ted Kazcinski or Timothy Mcveigh. Lily white as they come.
