Okay, want to get even with Alex Jones?

He will be on George Noory's nationally syndicated radio show the next couple of hours (until about 3 a.m. Central Time 4/17/13), and you can "Fast Blast" questions/comments directly to Noory. Here is the link:

www.coasttocoastam.com/pages/contact

At the very top of the page you will see "Fast Blast" just to the right of Noory's pix. Click it and ask your question(s) or make a comment.

The thread was at Godlike Productions for a few years until Noory tried to sue them. Seems he didn't like live fact checkers and comedians.

Noory's program is a cesspool for bad ideas, and over much of the past decade it has attracted the nation's biggest overnight share of radio listeners. Aside from the usual propaganda and scams, the upbeat-sounding Noory was among the first and biggest promoters of the Mayan Doomsday. He has helped fleece susceptible listeners out of untold amounts of money with frequent appearances by people from the survivalist and gold industries, quacks, etc. Fears of a possible suicide cult rising from his various doomsday scenarios - especially the Mayan Calendar - even drew attention from federal authorities. In recent months he has toned it down, but the destructive, paranoid ripples his program has created live on.

The problem is when Art Bell had it the show focused on UFOs and Bigfoot. Now these shows are increasingly moving away from the paranormal and into far right wing (or as they call it these days mainstream GOP) propaganda.

This show has gone downhill a lot over the last 10 years.

Area 51 : The Frantic Caller

Uploaded on May 9, 2007

In 1997 syndicated talk show host Art Bell received a frantic call from a man claiming to have worked in Area 51. The entire radio station was zapped off the air as soon as the caller began to reveal detailed plans concerning "aliens" the government, and the population.

Bell did a number of shows before he left the country, and nightly blamed the government for trying to shut him up from telling their secrets. (He didn't ever talk about his teenage girl friend who became his wife.) Sound familiar?

It was a late night meeting place of people because you could pick up the signal almost anywhere. I listened to it in WA when he was broadcasting from NV.

Being conducted in real time, it was tantalizing and ramped up the fears of a number of people, some I knew who were educated but anxious, really believed him.

Classic suspense theatre in the line of fiction based with reality like Welle's broadcast. An older generation spent nights listening to The Shadow and other fictions that appealed to their model of heroes and villains, just as these do now.

Jones just took off where he left off. Noory, Jones, Icke, all travel in the same circles. Always have the special knowledge, that if one buys into it, suddenly one is awake and all the rest of those who aren't true believers are either sheeple or tools.

Icke is known for using the term sheeple (all disagreeing people are dumb sheep - sheeple), but it's as old as some of the Nazi era writings, maybe longer than that.

Just my humble opinion, sorry if that hurts your feelings if you're still a fan of this stuff. No offense intended.

The thread regulars knew Noory and his producer were reading their comments, jokes and corrections, in part because Noory occasionally sent his fan club president and guests to the thread in his defense. Even Noory himself posted now and then until he realized he was only feeding us more material. Noory also knew that on any given night, hundreds and thousands of listeners Googled "George Noory Sucks" and were referred to the thread to read what we were saying. As a result, it did appear the thread sometimes altered the direction of individual programs and even limited appearances by certain guests like Steve Quayle.

Earth parents to give birth to him. This is all part of the big awakening and evolution of the human race, ascension, etc.

Got a guy in Portland who tells people how to survive in the woods as the world collapses. Fear sells very well along with water filters, radiation kits, gillie suits and freeze dried foods, etc.

These guys are very concerned about the welfare of people when big bad government belly up and the zombie apocalypse and anarchy reign.

At least the last two aren't as heavy with their rants as Beck. So there's that.

right wing fundie preacher.

They know their audience and know the best way for them to crack open their wallets.

Frankly, I don't think they, at first, believed their tripe personally. Like most hucksters and snake oil salesmen, they were in it because they saw an easily exploitable market, but at some point they begin to believe their own bullshit. And it's at that point, they go from being a conspiracy nut to full on batshit crazy.

I'd say dogmatism comes easily to some and joining cults for a sense of safety comes even easier. When you get into a mental rut, you can take a break from the array of sensory input that reality provides.

Part of this comes from our entertainment culture. People love to indulge themselves, first in books, movie and television. Some Teabaggers I know went straight from years of watching SciFi channel or earlier from watching network programs like the Star Trek franchises, to believing Glenn Beck.

Fantasy series have increasingly gone for the dark side and the occult, which Jones, Beck, etc. thrive on. The people I know spent so much time watching television, it became a major part of their lifestyle and then their mental landscape. They are couch potatoes, so they had hours of indoctrination right inside their homes.

When anyone mixed current technology with themes from history and the news as the conspiracy talker did, they were at first entertained. Then they became convinced they were getting the 'truth' those who were more conventional or grounded in science or social activities denied.

It's a complete circle. They are initiated into the esoteric brand by facts and conspiracy, with some hard science, new age spirituality, or in some cases, Christian Nationalism thrown into the mix.

Their deepest childhood fears are exploited, and they are innoculated against liberal or conventional wisdom. They are supremely confident they have superior knowledge, thus all others are not awake, sheeple, followers, tools, etc.

If input from the demagogues is shut off for any appreciable time span, they come back to the brick and mortar world and realize they were living in a dream world that had become a nightmare. But it's not easy waking the hibernating bear.
