Immediately after 9-11, Bush had an approval of 90 percent and Democrats united behind him

They gave him a chance to show leadership and put the good of the country ahead of politics in a time of crisis. (Of course, Bush quickly pissed away that good will by invading Iraq and so forth)

Compare this to today, where the GOP is using this Boston attack to continue spreading their failed memes, promote Alex Jones style tinfoil hattery and attack our president in hope of scoring cheap political points.

Republicans and conservatives will never unite with the opposition when their party is out of power.

It just goes to show you which party truly loves our country and reacts appropriately in a time of need.

Black is mostly what has their panties in such a wad too you can bet on that.

I'm so sick of racism that I want to scream. I actually thought we were moving on, up to the election of '08 that is. Now its obvious that we've still got a long long ways to go

And yeah, it was regarding the Boston bombings.

Do all these Presidents lately get a script?

About 30 seconds after Obama came out with GeeDub's infamous "Make No Mistake" line,

I changed the channel.

Shortly after GW's Make no Mistake line, they invaded Iraq.

Hope the Koreans in the USA stay outta sight.

In the first few months of his misadministration, which was foisted upon us by the US Supreme Court, it was one outrage after another, and then 9/11 with bu$h sitting in that 2nd grade classroom with that weird expression on his face, listening to The Pet Goat even after supposedly being told that "America is under attack".

In fact, I can't think of anyone who openly defended him at the time, even though some stayed silent.

We saw through his authoritarian warmongering bullshit, but it took another 5 years for the rest of the country to figure out what the rest of us knew from the beginning: that he was a petty vindictive asshole tyrant who had an agenda -- to avenge Poppy for Desert Storm.

heck, I knew it earlier than that - I was in England when the election happened, and Brits, upon finding out I lived in Texas, asked my opinion of him. I told them, "HE WILL BE YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE - ENDLESS WAR AND A CRASHED ECONOMY." I saw right through that sociopathic bastard when he was my governor. The only time he showed any true emotion was when he was talking about executions. GAWD.

I've been waiting years to say that. But seriously, I'm tired of conservatives' situational patriotism, too. We've conjectured about this many times, over many what-ifs, over the past 12 years. We're seeing it in action now, altho to be fair this is not exactly the same scale as 9/11. Among other things, we knew within hours who the enemy was in 2001. Not knowing now leaves everything up in the air.

I do think it's important to call out counterproductive & baseless finger pointing. I imagine I'm gonna catch some shit on this board if I do so against liberal bete-noire-baiters. I still expect the Republicans to be worse about it.

tragedy in Boston. I am no less sickened by the senseless killing of innocents in the middle East and worldwide.
"They" purposely choose these "soft targets" to enrage us and make us despise the terrorists. I don't know what to believe anymore. Maybe after studying on this horrific tragedy, I will find where my moral compass lies on the possible perpetrators. Thankfully, whoever did this, chose to place the killing devices where the maximum "kill zone" would not be realized.
It was (is) horrible, but it looks like it could have been much worse.
We know that whichever animal did this to those innocent people, the grip of our police-state will tighten. Will "they" tie it to north korea, domestic terrorists, al queda? IDK...I do know that by choosing "soft targets" they are getting the most political bang for their buck..if they bombed the banksters, the elite or the politicians, it would have had a very different impact on us.
It sure takes your mind off of SS cuts, sequestration, the bill signed into law that again allows insider trading for cngress..etc..
It also enrages us as a nation and unites against the savages who perpetrated this atrocity.
Which way will allow ourselves to be led, or which freedoms we will compelled to give up remains to be seen.
IF it is the work of "domestic terrorists", how twisted and immune to love can they be?
IDK the answers to my many questions. I know that if it is a military move against "our" govt., the wrong target was chosen.
Yes, we are in a class war that was not started by the oppressed class, yet again (as in worldwide terror attacks) we commoners were targeted. I saw the facebook(R) saturday posting that mentions the victims of mondays cowardly attack. We will be bombarded with disinformation.
We can't allow this disgusting assault to erase our consciousness.
My first precious grandchild was born Sunday, OMG, the joy is indescribable. Her future is a part of that joy.
We owe it to our babies to get this one right.

Since they refuse to stand behind President Obama during a "time of war" that means their argument that we ought to do so during Dubya's term was insincere.

Same with the "patriotism."

I just find it interesting. Most of the things they say are insincere. They don't really mean that you should support the President after a terrorist attack. They just use that to abuse anyone who disagrees with them.

It got us the Patriot Act, Patriot Act 2, Faux News being on TVs in every public place 24/7/365, Bush in a cod piece, and 2 wars that children born in 2213 will still be paying for.

Let the Republicans keep being the assholes they are. It only marginalizes them further. Maybe when there are only 12 Republicans left in the entire country, we can finally quit with the "Democratic Party much elect centrists for any chance at winning the general election" mantra. Maybe.

were shocked by the attacks on 9/11 and as such they wanted to show that they could unite and stand together. Bush and his cronies took advantage of this and that is exactly what they wanted to do all along. Increase fear and distrust amongst the majority of people in the country, and turn that fear and distrust into anger they could use to do what they had planned on doing all along.
