I used to think politicians proposed stuff because they believed in it.
But now many DUers have explained to us, that it means nothing. That it might be some really complicated plan. A Rope-A-Dope boxing analogy or a 24 dimensional chess Star Trek analogy. Or you just propose it because you know it will never pass anyway but you do not really believe it. We basically are not smart enough to understand the logic.
This is a turn of events that I did not realize was happening.
If Obama continues to crack down on Medical marijuana, he really supports medical marijuana but wants the GOP to support medical marijuana? Wow, still confused.
So Obama really does not like the warrant-less wiretaps and drones strikes but proposes it because if he didn't the GOP would somehow propose them and make us look bad? Wow, complicated. But maybe I get it now.
If the GOP proposes banning abortion, then maybe they really do not want to ban abortions, but are trying to rope the democrats into supporting abortion to make us look bad? Maybe I understand now. Still not sure. But maybe I am being too hard on the idiotic stuff the GOP proposes. Maybe they do not really believe the stuff they propose. They just propose it because they know it will not pass anyway.
Wow, maybe we have been too hard on the GOP. They are just playing the same game we are. They propose stuff they really do not want passed.
I will admit, this new concept is hard for me to grasp. Please keep posting the strategy behind proposing something you really do not want. I need more help understanding this new political concept.

Don't bother disagreeing...it's too confusing, and no one believes anything anymore, anyway.

(38,437 posts)This is particularly notable because I also have a filter that hides all threads with "social security" and "CPI" in the titles. God knows how many other threads on this subject were successfully hidden.

(38,437 posts)Nothing has been passed. No one is dying. Obama's proposal was flatly rejected.
Are you suggesting for even one second that even the 100 threads that escaped the filter are all contributing unique ideas? That I have not read your exact, hysterical, hyperbole-ridden crap 100 times? Well, I have, and your endless repetition of the same insanity does not make it true or less insane.
The problem is not being closed minded or "fucking over vulnerable people", it is the ridiculous obsessive behavior so typical of DUers. I don't need it.
Do carry on, and give my regrets to all the people who have died of cancer after being denied treatment under Obama's new program.

(9,436 posts)A Republican idea for Social Security in the budget. Unfuckingbelievable!
I guess we should be thankful that raising the retirement age to 70 wasn't offered up because Boehner wanted that too.
