OK, I'll say it: Prez. Obama doesn't speak to the American people enough.

Sure he shows up for the big speeches (and usually delivers), but he rarely does press conferences and even more rarely does he take his case to the American people... older DU'ers might remember that presidents used to go on TV during prime time to explain big decisions they've made. For too much of his presidency, proposals seem to emanate out of the White House with no authorship or explanation. As a result, one gets the feeling that the Obama Presidency is being run by a faceless committee, one whose policies often bear little resemblance to the campaign rhetoric that resonated so well with the American people.

Mr. Obama, are you really our president or just a figurehead? Please get out more and speak to us! Take questions. Defend your policies. You can start by explaining this Chained CPI fiasco, which has gone on far longer than any liberal democrat should have allowed.

1. I've often said I wish he would just come out and TALK to us.

Like this SS flap. Come on the TV (or even on the WH site) and say "Here's why I did this, here's the up side, here's the down side" and really TALK to us. The second guessing and judging aren't good for him, for us, or for the Party.

I understand it's not politics to do that, and that every word is weighed before it's uttered, so it's just my fantasy.

And not just for Obama, but for all our reps.

They're usually reading the same talking points Obama receives.

I think Obama should get on prime time and promote his cuts to SS and Medicare and see how well that is received.
