POLICE HUNT FOR RITUAL DOG KILLER
30 dogs dead or missing in southern Idaho community
Someone is killing lots of dogs in Idaho. Four German Shepherd mixes were found beaten and shot to death on the side of a highway on Thursday in the southern farming region known as Magic Valley. Roughly 30 dogs have gone missing in the area since last month, with dozens turning up dead in horrific fashion.
One dog, another German Shepherd, suffered what officers called a ritualistic execution, in which its head was crushed and its carcass covered in a purple cloth. Residents are shaken. "We're staying on it and working with what leads we have, said Gary Trostel of the Twin Falls County Sherriffs office. We know something is going on but we don't know what it all means. We're trying to find out.
Pet owners are being advised to report any instances of stalking or disappearances, and to keep their dogs from roaming. The Humane Society is also offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to a conviction in the dog killings.

(30,947 posts)to keep their dogs indoors or locked in a safe place. All of my dogs have been kept inside the house, even my Rottweiler who only was outside on a leash because there are some idiots who hate that breed and would take potshots at her.

(298 posts)would have made more sense. You have not minimized anything. What they are doing is horrible and they must be found. My only point was this could be just the start. If I have misunderstood your original post, I apologize.

(7,720 posts)Me saying that killing a dog is not murder is not condoning the killing of the dogs nor does it minimize the severity of the crime.

(17,086 posts)This is not a call for legal action but a description of the crime.

(7,720 posts)I don't think it is semantics. Killing an animal is not murder. Killing the dogs is bad, it is not as bad as killing a person.
