5. As an engineer, I think it is possible to make changes to a system to improve it, reduce costs, etc

without destroying the program. I think that any changes to SS that Obama makes* will be positive and not the "end times" scenario that some on the left are wailing about. I come by this belief because of the character of Obama and most Democrats and not because of deification of the person.

* That said, I do not think any changes will be made.

3. I thought the panic was that SS is in "crisis" and Obama needs to save it? This implies that

there's just too much money sloshing around there and a little innocent trim is reasonable. Huh. So is this a bluff or something he wants? I guess the talking points are getting muddled.
