Today, I had an interesting run in with a corporate shill on Twitter. About 10 days ago, the Priemier of Saskatchewan was praising Cameco Corp for being a great corporate citizen. In response to his tweet, I tweeted that Cameco, or any corporation is a good corporate citizen if it treats its employees with respect. Being a former Cameco and witnessing first hand the way Cameco treats its employees, I can assure you that they do not treat their employees with respect.
I was dismissed without cause in Dec 2012, shortly after returning to work after taking parental leave to care for my newborn son. In Canada, either parent is entitled to up to 35 weeks of parental leave after working ~ 660 hours at a job. I had worked just about 700 hours. When I was dismissed, I was given 3 hrs notice a put on a plane back to southern Saskatchewan from the remote northern worksite. When I asked for the reason for my dismissal none was given. I also know of at leastm3 other employees that were picked up at the flight terminal before departure for the northern mine site, taken to corporate headquarters and fired for little to no reason.
Back to the story, the shill then retweeted my tweet with the addition of the phrase "Sure they do".
I have never understood why a person would be so devoted to a corporation to stick their neck out to defend them. Would it not be cheaper in the long run to treat people respectfully than to pay someone to troll social media for negative comments and have them defend the company?
Fuck that pisses me off

(11,481 posts)in these types of cases it more of a matter of power than money. Of course, with the power comes the money, so it's like an investment that pays off in the long run in more power over the proletariat.
