When Bush and Cheney kick the bucket, I will bake cakes.

And I will be happy knowing the world lost one of its more perverse enemies.

Respite in death applies only to the dead. The rest of us have to keep on living in the mess they leave behind. We should not canonize someone because they did what every biological organism does.

There is no spiritual forgiveness for us who are still alive. There is no undoing of all the damage someone commits when they stop breathing. I ponder Margaret Thatcher and see a bourgeoisie thug.

Redemption does not come in death. You must strive for it in life. I see no evidence that she made any attempts to do that. So she is dead now and I have just as much disdain for her as I did a few days ago when she was alive.

Good riddance.

I'll be buying myself a split of champagne when Cheney goes. I don't drink because it's a migraine trigger, but some events should be celebrated with bubbly.

Shakespeare pointed out that the good men did died with them but their evil lived long after them. Thatcher was pure, fulminating evil and it will take the UK decades to undo some of the damage she did. Other damage will be permanent, especially to the poor children whose school milk she stopped.

I did not honor that woman in life and death certainly didn't deodorize her.

I won't be. The longer Bush and Cheney are around the better. I get a real kick seeing them not show up at GOP political events and fundraisers. I like being able to run against them and the Republican Party whose ideas they so well represented.

Every time Cheney gets on the air and snarls out some "Republican idea of gravitas" stupidity, a thousand Republican votes evaporate. Every time Bush paints a picture of his feet or the back of his own head, every time he gets a shoe thrown at him, every time someone brings up "My Pet Goat" or "I'm a War President" or "I'm the Decider" I get to smile. And the Republican Party that cheered and gushed over Bush and Cheney while they got us into a gigantic, catastrophic mess? They wince every time these two idiots' names come up.

No, I'm happy for Bush and Cheney to live long, long, long lives.

... what I expressed at the end of my poem will not have come to pass, except for the very last part.
This is what I wanted to say to Bush when he left office:

I’d tell you to go fuck yourself
But that is much too kind
Because if you could perform that feat
You’d take pleasure in your behind

I’d like to say eat shit and die
But you deserve much more
You should suffer all the grief and pain
Of your misbegotten war

Though I can never make you feel
Or think, or understand
I’ll take solace when you hear your name
Cursed throughout the land

From inside a lonely prison cell
Dark and bare and cold
Where every day you pay for your crimes
Till you’re sick, heartbroken, and old

And when you finally leave the earth
You fucked over oh so well
If there is a God and afterlife
You’re going straight to hell.

Cheney doesn't really bother me like Bush does. Cheney reminds me of the evil guy from Time Bandits. It's who he is and is upfront about it. As much as I dislike him he doesn't really agitate me. It's Bush with his phoney nice guy stuff that makes my blood boil.
