Chris Hayes's show starts in forty five minutes.
As background, neither journalist covered this important breaking story on Friday. Neither even mentioned it.
Will it be ignored again by our liberal journalists on MSNBC?

It should be a MUST WATCH!
I don't watch that stuff anymore...but love to read the links and comments that other DU'ers who DO WATCH post.
I have my ROKU and stick with the International News.
But...I look forward "hopefully" that they report accurately.

(84,711 posts)"Officially" presents his "Chained CPI Proposal about SS to the Congress...so I guess Wednesday Night will be when they talk about it. MSM is always a lag behind the Internet News, anyway.
So...Tonight it's Gun Control. That's a very worthwhile Topic, and I certainly am in favor of that...so no problem if they wait a few days.

(84,711 posts)Obama formally submits his budget to Congress. It could be they are gathering data and will do a Full Coverage that night?
It's early to them in the news cycle and he has not formally submitted it yet.
If they don't do it Wednesday Night...I'd get pretty worried, though.

(62,325 posts)like this from happening. This is why we got no PO, 'let's wait until he actually signs a bill without it'. Yes, I remember it well.
Doesn't matter anyhow, they don't care what the people think. This we have learned over the past few years. There is no one fighting for the people. Wall St won, for now. And it's better to acknowledge where we are.
Now we have to move forward, start the fight to remove from our government all Wall St puppets. The primaries are now the front line to begin the process.
Whatever damage he does on Wednesday can't be stopped, but it can be reversed when we get some Progressive Democrats into the seats of the Third Wayers, the DLCers and the pretend Dems in Congress. I don't think I've ever seen people more motivated. We had to see all this before we faced a reality we never suspected during the Bush years. I remember being angry at those who tried to tell us when we were so hopeful and thrilled when this President was elected. They were right, we were wrong. But now huge numbers of people know what they already knew, and that is how change begins, with knowledge.

(62,325 posts)fund to pay its debts. The lie that Republicans have been telling, that SS had anything to do with the deficit, has been confirmed now by a Democrat.
To play into that outrageous lie that Republicans have been pushing, is beyond harmful. The only way to undo that part of the damage is for the President to retract that offer and state clearly that cutting SS would do nothing to help with the deficit since it did not cause it and he is sorry to have frightened so many people who depend on it because they earned it.
And that's not even dealing with the harm that will be caused when Republicans grab it as an issue for 2014, lie once again, accuse Democrats of being willing to cut SS and position themselves, as Bachman has already done, as the party of the people who are protecting it from evil Democrats.
Unless it has already been removed. Which as far as I know, it has not, and/or the Democratic leadership has publicly opposed this offer, damage has already been done.

(36,437 posts)Most journalists (or at least the ones you'd care to watch) will wait to see the actual proposal before featuring or discussing (note: not reacting to) the, um, proposal.
That said, I think either could have done a nice story on the reaction to the "proposal," as they have plenty of actual data on that.

(9,314 posts)I did run out for an hour but for the most part have stayed somewhat tuned in. I heard a couple of vague references to President Obama's "budget" but nothing about Social Security, Chained CPI, nothing. I wanted to watch this evening to see if Rachel or Hayes covered it, but I was prevented from doing so. I had a feeling it would not be.
So I started thinking who would be the most likely to really go after the Oval Office for a budget presenting the Social Security Chained CPI and other changes to earned benefits. The most vehement would have been Keith Olbermann and Ed would have been right behind him. Well Olbermann is not on the air and Ed has been moved to Saturdays, in other words, no longer in prime time.
How convenient.

(21,210 posts)when Olbermann had John and Elizabeth Edwards on twice during the week of 5 year invasion of Iraq during the Presidential election and did not have the only Presidential candidate who cast a no vote for the invasion I've paid less attention to the "liberal media."
But I did switch the channel last week to hear Matthews tell us how courageous a move it was for Obama to put SS on the table.
IMHO there is no a reason to watch the "liberal media" unless one wants to just cheer for their team, same as watching Fox for the other team.
That being said I'm glad to have some light shined on the media, whatever the team may be.

(55,745 posts)Sunstein, the lone nutter's friend, spouted on about Dame Maggie being a realist. Bashir couldn't talk enough about privatization and how the trains and such never were the same. Hayes went along, smiled a lot.

(55,745 posts)...which I have to write down. Here's video from the "rip-roaring attack from the left."
http://video.msnbc.msn.com/all-in-/51473535#51473535
Certainly, Hayes and Bashir make clear how Maggie loved deregulation and loathed egalitarianism as much as Ronald Reagan. Bashir, on second viewing, made clear to point out British labor union's role in the economic malaise. Then he touched the heartstrings mentioning his brother who suffers from muscular dystrophy.
When Hayes talked about the importance of consensus, though, Cass Sunstein is the special case. From what I can see, that guy wants to be the DLC's Phil Zelikow. On Haye's show, Sunstein made the point that Thatcher and Reagan led the way in combating ozone depletion. He also talked about the best parts of Reaganism, "which cuts across parts of Democratic administrations" is cost-and-benefits analysis in deregulations, such as when Reagan got rid of lead in gasoline, "evidence based."
