http://www.photographyisnotacrime.com/2013/04/06/four-nebraska-cops-fired-after-caught-on-camera-chasing-man-into-home-to-steal-camera/Four Nebraska cops were fired over an incident in which they tried their best to conceal, including beating a man and chasing his brother into a home to steal his camera all while unknowingly being recorded by another citizen from an upstairs window.
And another three officers were placed on leave and an additional officer was reassigned, according to the Associated Press.
However, Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer refused to release any of the officers names, meaning they will likely get hired at another police department in the near future.
After all, as hard as it is to fire a cop, it is even harder to prevent him from getting rehired as a cop where he will likely continue his unlawful ways.

(111,261 posts)What amazed me is how many other squad cars showed up to back up a couple of cops who were in the wrong from the beginning.
Same here when the guy pans to the left, there are like 10 cars! WTF!?!?!
It was sickening

(3,731 posts)their names were released and if they try to get a job as a cop, or even a security guard, their names will come up in a background check.
I really doubt that they will ever be cops again in the U.S.

(3,731 posts)That's not my job, but my brother is the Sheriff in the county I live in and they do extensive background checks, as I would assume that other LEA's do also, so I would bet that they won't get jobs in the U.S. as LEO's.
It's pretty easy to check someone's background these days.
BTW, are you prepared to admit that you were wrong about the 4 officers names not being released?

(11,064 posts)How much?
And how long would you bet that this "banishment" would last?
There are police departments who value police officers who deliver violence, including unnecessary and excessive violence.
Are you unfamiliar with the unnecessary and excessive Taser use in this country? Are you unfamiliar with the unnecessary and excessive pepper spraying? Are you unfamiliar with piling on of LEOs against civilians, including civilians who are handcuffed and otherwise unable to defend themselves?
If so, start with some Youtube clips. There are many out there. Then go to the Internet and start researching what the police have done, with the approval of their supervisors, against Occupy Wall Street protestors.
There are many police supervisors who not only approve of unnecessary and excessive violence, there are those who would be glad to hire someone with a proven track record.

(3,731 posts)considering the notoriety attached to these 4 guys?
They may very well be criminally charged now and the FBI is looking to see if these 3 brothers civil rights were violated.

(11,064 posts)They may be criminally charged? And prosecuted?
By who? By Holder? He won't even prosecute openly-admitted war criminals.
Why would he prosecute any of them? Have they been selling medical marijuana on the side?

(3,731 posts)It's probably a safe bet that these guys won't be hired by any LEA again, but if you want to believe they will, have at it.

(11,064 posts)Your belief that charges will be filed, in the face of the DA offsetting his "certainly possible and, I think, likely" with "too early to know," is wrong.
Your speculation that "It's probably a safe bet that these guys won't be hired by any LEA again" is wrong.
Have you noticed a general silence from the police departments and other agencies disapproving what they did? You say that your brother is the Sheriff in the county in which you live. Have you noticed that even he has probably refrained from publicly disapproving of what was done? These guys stick together. It's well known. It's called the Blue Wall of Silence. The only reason for these guys getting fired was the video footage. Youtube makes it easy to distribute video information.

(3,731 posts)he wholly agrees with the terminations and told me that he's going to incorporate the video into the training academy of what not to do.
Just the fact that this video went viral pretty much guarantees that they will never work in any LEA again in the US, this is coming from my brother, whom I will trust more than some anonymous person on a chat board.
AnotherMcIntosh
(11,064 posts)Let me know when, as part of the training, he instructs trainees to not be part of the Blue Wall of Silence.
The Blue Wall of Silence exists because LEOs cover up the criminality of other LEOs.
What would your brother's answer be if you asked whether the Blue Wall of Silence exists? Whether it exists in your State? Whether it exists in his Sheriff's Dept?

(3,731 posts)It probably does exist in the state, LVMPD being one of the worse in the state.
He won't even hire former LVMPD officers because of their reputation.

The code silence is a pervasive problem in police departments. It's not spotted across the country. It is everywhere.

(85 posts)some of the same people who rail against police brutality and the emerging "police state" will enter a gun debate and state that we should give police a monopoly on force. This particular incident just helps to remind that someone doesn't magically become benevolent because they are a police officer.

(579 posts)that maybe "gun nuts" should not become cops! There will always be people who let power go to their head, that doesn't translate into letting everybody and their uncle own an assault weapon.

The family says officers demanded the phone but when Juaquez ran into the house to put it away, police rushed in throwing Sharon Johnson out of her wheelchair. Sharon says, He came in and ran and he took my chair and he throws it up and just threw me back. But a police report obtained by Action 3 News shows Johnson was pushed out of her wheel chair by Juaquez as he ran from officers. Sharon says, not true. Other police officers just climbed over me and just start going over this way and jumping all over him. said Sharon.
Johnson says police handcuffed her for a short time, arrested Juaquez and took his cell phone. The Omaha Police Department released this statement: Chief (Todd) Schmaderer has authorized an internal investigation into the incident. The Omaha Police Department expects professionalism from all employees there will be a comprehensive investigation into this incident .any violations will be addressed.
