I can think of little worse to have to live through the death of your child under any circumstances, let alone a troubled child taking his own life.

First wave comes at 16-21, when the schizophrenia sets in.

Second wave comes 25-35, when the meds become oppressive, and the self-medication injurious.

Sad fucking thing either way. One of my best friends from childhood and growing up hung himself in his closet last year. He was 36.

It's not trying to be difficult. It's not a lack of trying.

It's a real issue that can have deadly outcomes.

A friend of mine had a son who killed himself. He was bright, talented, thoughtful... and dealt with mental illness.

The illness took him.

That's a sad day for any parent.
