Family: United removed us for violent-movie complaint

A United Airlines flight from Baltimore to Denver was diverted and a family removed after parents complained about a violent PG-13 movie shown on the carrier's in-flight entertainment, The Atlantic reports.

The parents of the family – so far unidentified – say they could not shield their children from the "Alex Cross" movie because the in-flight entertainment on the United Airbus A320 was being shown to the entire aircraft on drop-down TV screens.

The parents say they asked attendants if anything could be done to shut off the screens in their area of the cabin, but were told that was not possible.

"We asked if the captain has the authority to address this issue, but received no response," the family says in a recount of their trip posted on the website of The Atlantic. "A few minutes later we asked for the captain's name (I failed to make note when he welcomed us on the PA system), and was told, by the purser, that we will have to ask him ourselves when we disembark."

There was nothing wrong with asking about whether or not their own screens could be turned off, but when they were informed that wasn't possible, they could have covered their screens with whatever was available & not used the ear plugs.

The types who expect everyone else to dance to their tune don't give up easily -- they're annoying & aren't polite about it.
