Kamala Harris 'strongly supports' Obama despite comment flap

Kamala Harris 'strongly supports' Obama despite comment flap

From a Times staff writer

California Atty. Gen. Kamala Harris doesn't seem to have a problem with President Obama calling her "by far the best-looking attorney general in the country."

The remark touched off a firestorm, with some calling Obama's words sexist.

On Friday, the president apologized for the remark. "He called her to apologize for the distraction created by his comments," White House press secretary Jay Carney said.

Harris has not commented. But according to PolitiCal, her communications director, Gil Duran, issued a statement saying "the attorney general and the president have been friends for many years. They had a great conversation yesterday and she strongly supports him."

Harris, it turns out, once commented on Obama's appearance. The San Jose Mercury News found a 2009 YouTube video in which she says: "He looks and he sounds like a million bucks."

So WTF if he said that? She IS good looking as well as being very accomplished and capable at her job.

I wish the fucking media, if they want to get on their high horse about something Obama said. would start tearing him a new asshole for stabbing seniors and people who someday aspire to be seniors, in the back with his ill advised plan to implement the chained CPI.

Honestly, I can't think of a more challenging issue we face as a nation than the urgent need to stop people from paying other people compliments.

Where-oh-where can this kind of behavior lead - if not to the ruination of democracy, and all we hold dear as a country?

Just today, I heard someone tell a coworker she looked great in the outfit she was wearing. As the words were spoken, I could literally hear the fabric of civilization being torn asunder.

This being complimentary to each other has GOT TO BE STAMPED OUT IN OUR LIFETIME! What kind of world are we bequeathing to those who follow us when we blindly accept compliments without taking umbrage?

Yeah, okay, SS is an important issue - but surely it pales in comparison to the issue of those being victimized by having something nice said about anyone.

Priorities, people!!! Let's stand together and stamp out compliments - before it's too late.
