Hannity defends Rutgers coach: My father hit me with a belt, I turned out okay!
Hannity: Im watching this and Im thinking, I dont like it he kicked one player there but on the other hand, I kind of like old-fashioned discipline, the Fox News host explained. I mean, have we become that politically incorrect? These are adults, they dont want to play for that team, they can leave.
As the segment closed, it devolved into a discussion of Hannity and Malkins personal experiences with giving and receiving spankings.
My father hit me with a belt, I turned out okay! the Fox News host exclaimed. Except in the minds of liberals.
Same here! Malkin said. Oh, I certainly did. And with more than a belt. Im sure the left thinks we are warped minds.

And look at me! I'm perfectly fine after the nice nurse gives me my meds.

(36,988 posts)WAYNESBURG, PACalling the conduct shocking and disgraceful, former Penn State football coach and convicted serial child molester Jerry Sandusky expressed his outrage Tuesday over the actions of now-fired Rutgers mens basketball coach Mike Rice. I have to say, that kind of behavior is totally unacceptable, especially from someone who is supposed to be teaching and nurturing young athletes, for Gods sake, said Sandusky, who called the recently leaked video of Rice kicking, pushing, and screaming gay slurs at his players during practice absolutely sickening. He had a responsibility to these boys, and what he did was not only completely inappropriate, but also, to be perfectly frank, downright disgusting.
How a guy like that, with the mental problems he has, was ever allowed to be around these kids in the first place is totally beyond me. Unbelievable. In addition to his harsh criticism of Rice, Sandusky also blasted Rutgers athletic director Tim Pernetti and university president Robert Barchi for not immediately firing the coach after the video was first brought to their attention last year.

(10,115 posts)What we have here is an outsider abusing young adults. I doubt Malkin, who proudly exclaims she was hit by something more than a belt, would have liked her neighbor beating her with something more than a belt for stepping on that neighbor's tulips.

(15,237 posts)When engaged in verbal abuse and threats on Fox News this pair might benefit from some corporal punishment by acceptable means a belt, paddle, a good slap. Never by a switch, fist or breaking skin so there would be some control. I guess a bruise or two would also be acceptable.

(9,350 posts)The case of Sean Hannity's father hitting him with a belt and the Rutgers basketball coach throwing basketballs at players, pushing and pulling kids by their jerseys, and kicking kids are different in many ways. First, Hannity's father hit him with a belt. As far as we know the Rutgers coach is not the father of all or any of the players on his team. Even if he had been the father of all or any of the players on his team some of what he did would rise to the level of abuse. However, there is a big difference between a father beating a kid or spanking a kid with a belt than a basketball coach throwing a basketball at a kid to whom he is not related.
Second, as already mentioned the Rutgers coach did more than hit players with belts. He was kicking kids and throwing things at them. If any parent is caught kicking a kid or throwing things at a kid that kid will be taken away from them, at least temporarily.

(3,867 posts)A parent spanking their child when they are bad is different than a coach calling people faggots and throwing basketballs at their heads. I have no problem with a parent spanking their child, if deserved, nor do I have a problem with school administration paddling if warranted. Once you are in college though, the players/students should get to hit back.

(32,020 posts)I'll post the audio later at V&M. This sports talk show host in my area was going off for the past 2 days about how he had gone thru much worse when he played sports in high school and thinks that because what most of Mike Rice did (including being called "pansies" "soft" etc) happens ALL THE TIME in organized sports from Little League to the pros thus Rice shouldn't have been fired. Hypocritically that SAME host had gone off against Chris Culliver for Culliver's homophobic remarks against having gay teammate that are even worse if not as bad as Rice calling his players fags. And that host also voted for Obama!

(3,867 posts)mostly football which allows for more physical coaching considering you are wearing a helmet and pads. But, even if Alabama I never heard any of my coaches call anybody anything homophobic. Kind of surprised now that I think about it.

(4,840 posts)and submit questions to Hannity and Malkin and their parents (if they are alive) about their relationship. I'm sure if that kind of abuse is perfectly normal they wouldn't mind a few follow up questions. I wonder how both their parents feel now that they've been outed as physically abusing their children on national tv.
My guess is they're not to proud and phone calls were made soon after asking "Why the hell would you tell the whole planet we physically abused you???!!!"
P.S. Maybe a few calls to dyfus are in order? Yea, I think these public admissions warrant further investigations. What do you think?
hannity's dad was a fucking nut job as well?

(21,020 posts)too stupid to be influenced by it, then.
Both my parents hit/slapped us kids.
Hand. Belt. Even those wooden paddle things with the balls attached by rubber strings (which we always managed to get in our Easter baskets each year).
What it taught me...
If I do something wrong...if I do or say anything that makes another person angry...
they're going to hit me.
Even now, at the age of 60, there are still remnants of that fear present.
It's true that in the years since, some people have hit me when I did something they didn't like.
It took me a long time to get over the belief that I deserved it.
THAT is what hitting someone does.
anyway, what surprised me the most about seeing those videos of that idiot abusing those kids was how many of them could have totally kicked his ass right back if they had wanted to. In fact, I kept hoping to see them all get together to do it. Maybe then he would have thought twice about doing it again.
