2. I have nearly given up trying to figure out David Brooks's problem.

He seems to live in his own little "Brooks world" where everything is related to something he wants to bellyache about in some way, no matter how inconsequential and downright odd. I suppose he thinks that makes him a "great thinker." But Taibbi nails him perfectly...

after I read the above quote from Brooks was a question:

Are you unhappily married? "...binds you for decades" That doesn't sound like a happily married person's observation of marriage to me.

6. No, at the end of the day, Brooks doesn't give 2 shits about Gays or Marriage. I can tell you in 15

seconds what is making him "crazy".

It's that the issue is driving another giant fucking fault line in the GOP between the fundy nutbars that power the base and the people who want to win elections, it is contributing to the inevitable demographic doom of the party, and as such causing any chance of one Mr. David Brooks to see a permanent Cap Gains cut in his lifetime, to dwindle down to little or nothing.

THAT is what is making him crazy, but he's not gonna come out and say it, so instead you get this headache-inducing blather that makes ZERO sense.
