Bill filed by Republican lawmakers would allow North Carolina to declare an official religion

http://www.wral.com/proposal-would-allow-state-religion-in-north-carolina/12296876/

The bill grew out of a federal lawsuit filed last month by the ACLU against the Rowan County Board of Commissioners. In the lawsuit, the ACLU says the board has opened 97% of its meetings since 2007 with explicitly Christian prayers.

Good grief.

What are they thinking? Are they daring a judge to strike down the state religion law as the unconstitutional piece of trash it is?

and that the Feds are powerless to stop any of this bullshit.

Unfortunately, they're going to be fighting a lot of people in their own cities. Southern cities have become quite liberal.

This is the kind of stuff that happens in the absence of religious persecution.

If there WAS religious persecution here, the zealously religious would be afraid to try stuff like this.

... the un-American scumbags who sponsor pieces of crap such as this one would never win an election ever again, anywhere.

Little wonder why another key plank of the 21st-century GOP agenda is the destruction of public education.

They (my ancestors included) did not want to be told what religion to follow...now here we are and some dipshits are pulling the same crap our ancestors fled from!
