Justin Bieber to be prosecuted? If the L.A. Country Sherriff's Department gets its way, they plan to push for Bieber to be prosecuted for spitting on his neighbor, according to a TMZ report on March 30.
The incident involved eyewitnesses claiming that Bieber spit on a neighbor in a "fit of anger," although Bieber denies the incident. This came about when the neighbor went to Bieber's house to complain about him allegedly driving his Ferrari at high speeds in the gated community, endangering the residents there.
Bieber allegedly flipped out, spit in the neighbor's face and then threatened to kill him. Bieber denied these allegations but there is now a chance for Bieber to be prosecuted as a landscaper working beside the house came forward and said he saw Bieber spit in the neighbor's face.
The victim was a 47-year-old father of three who lived there for 10 years and that makes sense when considering he was angry as the reckless driving. Now, the police want Bieber to be prosecuted because of his "disregard for the law," including speeding tickets, fights, reckless driving, drugs allegations and more.

(135,425 posts)My second thought? How much more was he promised?
He'd better not have a cellphone that was pinging off the "wrong" tower at the time of the alleged incident!
They haven't managed to prosecute Lindsay Lohan effectively, what makes them think they'll be able to "nail" Hair Boy, there? No video, no case. There's motive for people to lie, the biggest motive being dough-re-mi!

(114,904 posts)`doesn't smell like extortion at all. Evidently there are lots of witnesses that he's raced his car at dangerous speeds in this neighborhood. Furthermore, it doesn't take much muscle to spit on someone.

(3,526 posts)...Bieber lives in a gated community where all of the houses look like the house he bought:
....and if the landscaper works in that community, you can bet he's pulling in some pretty good change. It's extremely doubtful he wants to do anything that would jeopardize his stream of income.

(146,331 posts)The neighbor. I didn't see anything about a lawsuit. The Sheriff? How will he get any money from this?
Bieber is just another entitled celebrity. Who cares?

(1 post)If this man lives in the same gated community as Bieber, I am sure he don't need Bieber's money. I would be horrified if a kid spit in my face just because I tried to tell him how to behave in society.
I feel that Bieber is our of control and needs some help.
Maybe Bieber should just follow the law and behave as (most) of the rest of us have to do. He always has an excuse of why he is driving so fast etc. I see a kid in trouble. The best thing is for him to get stopped before it is to late. Not everything is about money!

(86,005 posts). . . typical stuff.
Surprised at the comments which suggest his wealth and a sense of privilege brought this on. That says nothing of the millions of youth who have similar experiences and actions growing up. I've known much, much, worse.
He certainly doesn't deserve all of the crap from folks who know little else about him outside of press reports. Odds are very good that he'll learn and outgrow most of this aggressive behavior. He'll NEVER shed himself of opportunistic critics and accusers (hypocrites, most of them, imo), though. That's something he'll need to learn to cope with.

(86,005 posts). . . so as to make national news for anyone not a Beiber. He does need to understand that scrutiny goes with the territory. Can't be easy, though. We can't pretend that he's going to get an even break wherever he goes; nor should we assume he doesn't need one.
. . . but spitting on the person you're fighting? That's a youthful mistake . . . seen it dozens of times from youth pumped up with energy, insecurity, and frustration.
I'm definitely not a fan of sheriff-generated nonsense. You won't find me rooting for the young man getting caught up in the 'justice' system. Once they get ahold of you, they can't seem to let go, and for a young man, it could mean that he gets dragged down by court requirements long after this silly incident and the system actually inflates their paternalistic hold on him far beyond the time of the incident and the scope of the original offense. I've seen that dozens of times, as well. I'll be rooting for the young man, against any attempt by the fuzz to put their two cents in. hope he can pull it down and get himself in check.

(41,692 posts)I never spat in someones face---it is one of the worse things you could do to another human.

(86,005 posts). . . and, so what? You're the better person here. That's outstanding, trumad, but your life experience isn't some standard that I'm going to apply to the rest of the world of young men. Reality is, young men do sometimes resort to spitting in silly little spats. It's not unheard of, and certainly not the worst thing I can imagine him doing. Wrong as hell, yes, but hopefully he can find room to apologize and learn from his mistake. We just can't say from here how the spitting incident will be resolved.
I do think that racing cars in the neighborhood is pretty typical . . . I think that's what the police will focus on, though, not the alleged assault.

(317 posts)happening among them. I teach in a public high school and I haven't seen it happen there either. Girls dumping milk on girls, maybe. Boys punching each other, but I haven't seen spitting. I don't think it's as common as you think.
bigtree
(86,005 posts). . . as a frustrated act from an excited young man.
I had this one fellow spit on me while we were detained in a youth center together. It was in the middle of a little spat which had escalated into a little punching back and forth with a lot of yelling and stuff. It is what it is. It's wrong, unpleasant, humiliating, perhaps, I don't know. I can't speak for the one who got spit on. For me, it was certainly a low blow, but, in these spats among youth, there will sometimes be low blows. I think for those who don't really fight much. it may not be as apparent as it is to experienced folks, just how offensive and wrong spitting on someone may be. Things like this are what young folks are challenged to work out as they grow. I can understand that. I'll bet the older man who was the victim of that assault might just understand that, as well.
I think that the perspective of this case is magnified by the celebrity of Beiber. To me, it's just a case of a frustrated (and likely stressed) young man who acted thoughtlessly. I'm really not seeing how that is so unusual or newsworthy.

(86,005 posts). . . and the Lohan thing has the same media hype attached to it that I despise. You really think you can know these people enough from opportunistic media reports to make these personal judgments? Well, that's your business. My experience is that it's a fools game to read too much into people we don't personally know from the outside.
Besides, outside of a few issues with court orders and an AUTO ACCIDENT. Lohan looks to be like the rest of us . . . in her case, just trying like hell to get an acting role and earn a living while working to satisfy what can be a frustrating justice system's demands and requirements. For me to try and judge all of that would be nonsense. I look for the best in these folks and hope for the same.

(86,005 posts). . . you give such a denigrating comment about my personal perspective, yet you expect your own to be taken seriously. It's all I can do to keep you in my view right now. It's like you just can't help being offensive. You just don't realize how absolutely WRONG one can be from the distance that you post from. Amazing, really that you can be so arrogant about others; not politicians, or even celebrities, but the folks who make up this world you stand in judgment of on this message board.
Delusional? I'm not the one interpreting hyped media reports as reality. Face it, that really is a fool's errand.

(15,480 posts)or used obscene language. I agree it is irrational - delusional if you will - to dismiss Lohan's severe drug and alcohol problems as you did. What Lohan and Bieber have in common is that they put the public at risk by driving recklessly.

I did attend 3 different junior high schools and three different high schools. I also spent two separate months in a youth detention center and a six month incarceration at a youth 'forestry camp.' I've seen and experienced MANY pumped-up fights between insecure and frustrated young men.
I've also raised two boys into their thirties.

. . . that's admirable. I certainly endorse that.
I've actually recalled a few spitting incidents in some detail as I've been reading this post today. I don't think they amounted to much, in the end. The guy (or gal) spitting is already pretty much defeated when they resort to this. It's an act that appears to be out of frustration, as much as it's appeared to me to be an act of contempt, in the several cases I've witnessed. It normally comes from a position of weakness. It's more of a pitiable act, than anything. I don't expect everyone to understand this or agree, I just have this perspective to offer to this discussion.

(17,087 posts)Build them up into golden idols, then expose their feet of clay and cut them off at the knees. It's a Great Story! In a normal community Bieber would get a quiet warning from the local cops to cool it before somebody gets hurt, but not in LA, where the LA Sherriff's department is as publicity crazed as everyone else. I guess this makes them the good guys again, out there protecting and serving Johnny Public, at least until the next time they decide to beat or shoot him.

Most of you don't get it, do you? The sheriff is the stand-out guy in this. I applaud anyone who uses his or her law enforcement powers to make benign character judgments instead of robotically following the law, or, worse, to lazily ignore this because of the celebrity status.
