Okay, so this is more wingnut crap

But I like to keep up with what the whackjobs are up to.

Huckabee the huckster argued on his radio show today against background checks for gun buyers. His reason today: what if Grandpa wants to give his old rusty family heirloom shotgun to his grandson. Are we seriously thinking that we should do a background check on the KID?

Once again, Huckabee's verbal vomit is so full of twisted BS that it's hard to parse out all the idiocy in one argument. But there it is.

1. There SHOULD be a background check on the kid. Or in the alternative, give it

to the kid's parents and let them undergo the background check. And then prohibit the minor from handling it without adult supervision.

We're either serious about safety or we're not.

6. That is one of the many details that need to be worked out

Its a reasonable question. What about gift/inheritance/loaning of a firearm? Should the same rules apply as those for a new sale from an FFL? Two week waiting period? Who secures the weapon while waiting. Small, but important details. Pols and discussion boards are not good at sorting that kind of stuff out.

Personally I like the FOID approach. Get it when you first register to vote. As long as it is good, you are good to go. Phone call to check that its still valid. Record the transaction number.

I didn't know about the spawn of the Huckster. I'm not sure I'm glad I Googled this up, but I suppose it's better to know.

Are we seriously thinking that we should have the KID (or his dad) register the car in his own name? Why do liberals hate our FREEDOM?
