How much do you know about Medicare? Take the quiz.

Medicare provides health coverage to approximately 50 million beneficiaries ages 65 and older and younger people with permanent disabilities. Medicare remains a hot topic in Washington and around the country as political leaders and other policy makers weigh potential changes to the program.

How much do you know about Medicare, the people it serves, the benefits it covers, and its financial status?

I am prone to suspect such questionnaires. They tend to lead people to a selected conclusion.

The two are not related.

The KFF conducts health care policy analysis and research and serves as an information clearinghouse on health care issues.

Not affiliated with Kaiser Permanente.

This quiz is not leading to any conclusion.

traditional Medicare is the out-of-pocket maximum payments for catastrophic health costs...

Traditional Medicare does not "protect" those unfortunate enough to get a costly illness (all of us?) from becoming destitute whereas the Medicare Advantage plan (private health ins.) has an out-of-pocket maximum.

Am I wrong in that observation?

on edit:

That may be the work of corporate health ins. lobbyists. Drilling holes in traditional Medicare to make the private plan more attractive. If traditional Medicare provided an out-of-pocket maximum you might see a huge increase in enrollment to traditional Medicare?

Incidentally, what's the point of having a "Don't know" option in this quiz? It's obviously going to be marked wrong if you choose "Don't know."
