Italian prosecutor: Amanda Knox should be retried for murder

A battery of lawyers argued before Italy's supreme court today that an appeals court was wrong to overturn Amanda Knox's murder conviction and set her free.

Knox, who remained home in Seattle, was "anxious" about the hearing which could reject the prosecution's argument and end the six year ordeal, or order a new trial. When the ruling comes down, Knox will be notified by her lawyers.

Knox, now 25, spent four years in an Italian prison for the 2007 murder of her English roommate Meredith Kercher. She was freed in 2011 when she and her former boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito had their convictions overturned.

Prosecutors in Knox's supreme court hearing today argued that the judges who set Knox free had "lost their direction." They argued that "some elements were not taken into account," insinuating that the appeal decision to acquit was wrong because not all evidence was considered.

abuse of office at the time of that trial. He may still be in prison,

I don't know. He certainly deserved it.

The appeals court overturned Amanda Knox's murder conviction and set her free. Its up to the Supreme Court to decide if the appeal was sound based on the evidence introduced. Should they find it was not sound then the original guilty verdict remains in place

The fact is, neither she nor her Italian boyfriend were involved and they should never have been

tried in the first place since, as they found years later, there was never enough evidence

to bring charges in the first place. The prosecutor, who was under indictment for "abuse of power"

at the time of the trial, is now in prison.

Whatever the Italian Courts find, I doubt it will be treated with great respect

by the US, given the farcical nature of the first trial.

I doubt even more that they would send her back to Italy to do any time.

I'll wager a significant amount of money that if they decide to retry her or overturn the last verdict the United States will not extradite her back to Italy for trial or sentencing.

is the frustration of knowing that their trial and verdict will be ensure no penalty

to the person they judge as guilty.

First, though, we must know whether ALL of Europe will concur with the Italian verdict.

Do you have any facts concerning the original one?

The only "consequence" for Amanda Knox, should they again find her guilty, will be

that she may not be able to visit those countries that uphold the ruling, and after her ordeal,

I have a feeling she'll be able to live with that.

In the event the guilty charge was put back in place she'd be arrested anywhere in the EU if she stepped foot here in the EU at the request of the Italian government on an EU arrest warrant.

Lets just see what the outcome is.

the paper it's written on in US courts should they seek extradition. I would imagine the US would block Interpol from considering this.
