Very irritating, and something you don't want to repeat often.

during Alexandra Pelosi's interviews with them on Maher's show always makes me feel like I'm losing brain cells. Every time they are asked why they hate Obama or why they think socialism is bad, they can never come up with a factual reason. It's always the standard BS "Obama is a Kenyan/half-breed/Commie/America-hater" or they claim that socialism takes away incentive for people to work, when it is designed to give people an ace in the hole when they are down on tough times.
Who would've imagined that the election of a black Democratic president would drive them so insane?

just giving you a handout, maybe tossing a little bit of food into the hole, instead of giving you the ladder to climb out of it?

I'm not seeing the analogy to listening to Republicans, which I typically find to be frustrating. In the examples that I think of, like George Will or Cal Thomas. I would read their columns and prepare to write rebuttals, except that they usually had packed so many lies into a column that I would need three columns to refute them, but an LTTE writer does not get that kind of space.

Another example would be the debate I had last fall. They were having a debate about re-districting and the political science professor asked me to present the Democratic point of view. He said I would be expected to speak for 5-10 minutes. Well, the Republican guy had a powerpoint presentation that went for half an hour. So I was thinking "what the heck happened to 5-10 minutes?" The crowd was about 99.9% Republican so it would not have mattered anyway.

The same thing sorta happened in the campaign too. We had questions from the newspaper and they said we were limited to 60 words, and that if we went longer, our answers would be cut down to 60. So I limited all of my replies, but when I saw it in the paper, my Republican opponent went for over 70 words. And I am thinking "so much for playing like the rules" and "apparently the newspaper was bluffing about the strict limit."

The problem is that they really treat me nicely, so it's very hard for me to be mean to them. I do tell them that I'm a flaming liberal, and I do argue with them, but they sort of treat me like a pet.

That most of them are drunk. Except Romney, and he should really try it.
