Aurora shooter converted to Islam????

Apparently James Holmes, the movie theater mass shooter, has converted to Islam behind bars, according to a story originated by the National Enquirer. The only sources I see reporting this story are right wing trash like the Washington Times or Daily Mail, but a blog at Al Jazeera online refers to these reports.

Do you buy that story or does it have political undertones?

In jail, people join groups to survive.

I know a guy who as a teenager used to break into houses, so he did some prison time. He joined a reading group put on by the Black Muslims. He never converted to Islam, but it did expose him to readings on social movements (Che Guevara, Gramsci, etc. ..). When he got out, he applied to graduate school and is now a respected historian. He's also an extremely nice guy.

So I think it's possible the story is true.

It doesn't mean it isn't true. But, if they are reporting it they have an agenda. I am not sure it means anything at all. I don't care if he converted or not. He needs to be separated from the rest of society for the rest of his life or until he can no longer possibly be a threat like if he is on life support in a hospital I am ok with that.
