they have all the money? How will they feed their addiction to greed? Will they start swindling money from each other once the rest of us have nothing? Which of the greedy will end up the final 1% of the 1%? Have they even thought that far ahead?
Maybe I should just go do the laundry that is waiting for me. lol

(11,804 posts)I mean what else could it be. It's a shame that none of the 1% are Democrats or Liberals - they could do a lot of good with all that money.

(17,055 posts)will have to turn on other 1%'s to get their addiction fix, no? They could care less about us, money is what makes them high.

(75,480 posts)rest of the population to peasants and slaves, they did turn on each other and made war on one another. The Dark Ages and Middle Ages in Europe are an example of this. I don't know if in our technological civilization that will happen with nations, but it could happen at a more local level, with hostile takeovers sanctioned by laws they have gotten their paid for pols to legislate.

(36,477 posts)I always thought, what fun is that? I mean, one is the loneliest number, after all.
It's a disease. My husband & I were also wondering the other day, is humanity suffering from a collective, "we're totally fucked" mentality & so it's everyone for themselves, so fuck it all, cuz we're going down anyway? For all the disdain so many have for the dinosaurs tiny brains, it appears their time on the planet is going to be longer than ours.

(17,055 posts)Plus I also really believe they have an addiction to greed. When is enough enough?
Sure they'll end up killing all of us but in the final chapter there can be only one of the 1% left.

(53,661 posts)No different than aristocrats in the past have done. The rest of us are as inconsequential to their lives as we are blind to what creates and sustains life. We have been willing to kill for a buck - be it the flora and fauna of this planet - or each other.
They couldn't do a thing without our hands, unless in some post human world, their needs can be met without involving us - or in different class of the 99% - even though I feel the 1% vs. 99% analogy greatly lacking.
We seem to be moving towards the Brave New World version of life on Earth by predestination based on several factors. What if the changes in mankind created in the baby factory of thebook with Alphas, Betas, Deltas, etc. could be created through media and educational psychological processes and chemicals?
We have corporate schools that don't allow students to think outside what the money makers want us to know or believe. And so many gleefully profit as we go down the road to stratification of generations of society, we are to blame as well, loving this money.
That's why I don't hate them. The 1% have had a purpose all along that benefitted them and us up until a certain point. Justly or unjustly, they hoarded wealth to invest in the things we count on - energy, land, water, techology.
All of these behaviors are part of being human, even when we say they aren't or claim we're not the ones doing it. The 1% have been specialized to fit a role in the whole that people have wanted them to fulfill. They are tools, just as they regard us as tools.
But it's also a human trait to fight to save life - all life - and the task of every generation. I save any anger for things closer to what I can effect - and transform it into positive change. Give energy to doing that laundry, haha!

(17,055 posts)They need a good intervention and some type twelve step program for greed is all.
I am doing laundry just waiting for the dryer to buzz, lol.
