Does MSNBC Have An Ulterior Motive For The Documentary "Hubris"?....

Chris Matthews just opened Hardball with a discussion with David Corn and Michael Isakoff discussing how we were lied into the Iraq war. It seems as of late MSNBC has really been pushing this thought. Are they doing it just to promote their documentary "Hubris" or are they doing it because it is an anniversary date of the war OR do they have some ulterior motive - like hoping that exposing all this now will cause the American people to push to have some justice done to the Bush Administration?

We here at DU knew we were being lied into it as it was happening - but were powerless to stop it. Is MSNBC trying to raise the consciousness level in the American people to get them to rise up?

though Matthews was pretty whorish back then.

but Rachel Maddow was never one of those pushing the lies.

4. Tweety should talk. About himSELF, an unique perspective on his own cheerleading

It would be riveting to see some insight. Here's how he (if not the boss) was the designated trigger-puller on DONAHUE:

How Tweety "Executed" DONAHUE on MSNBC. Tweety was on his book tour for another one of his "books" (large type, wide spaces between lines, blank half-pages). It was in the jingoistic hysteria in the run-up to the illegal Iraq attack. The book was about supposed "Americanism" -- an American Civ 101 ripoff about books and movies and cultural stuff that are essentially American (think, "The Great Gatsby&quot . So Phil welcomed him as a colleague and peer on Phil's show for the full hour to plug the book. From the moment he appeared, there was a strange, deadly snake look in Tweety's snake eyes. Phil was walking around the audience, apparently not sensing anything, while Tweety was motionless, following him only with his eyes. Phil brought up something or other questioning blind, kneejerk jingoism, and Tweety STRUCK! He started out with venom dripping, "You see, THIS is EXACTLY what's wrong with YOU Liberals: You are NEGATIVE about this country, you find NOTHING good about it," and on and on. It took awhile before Phil figured out what was happening. Later, Phil, devastated and spent, was sitting at the table with Tweety and, weaker and weaker, did some of his trademark shoulder shrugging and arm waving. Tweety delivered the coup de grace, "What's THIS (mimicking the movements)??!! What's with the --APE-- movements???!" Days or a week or two later, Phil's cancellation was announced and took effect.

6. Has Anyone Thought About Getting Phil Donahue On A Show And Interviewing Him To....

hear his thoughts on the Iraq war and the lies and how he was silenced? I would like to hear from Donahue. I would like to get his take on this. Is he retired and just not giving interviews or is he still blacklisted?

everyone here should watch it. I wish that Piers would do a more current interview with Donahue today and give him the complete hour of his program to let Phil talk. It would even be better if Phil was given the shot at a new program. MSNBC should put him in Ed's slot now that Ed is going to weekends.

Bottom line - I miss Phil Donahue.

Turned on NOW With Alex Wagner yesterday....they were talking about the Iraq War.

Turned on Rachel Maddow last night....she was talking about the Iraq War.

Woke up this morning and Morning Joe was on the TV....they were talking about the Iraq War.

I think it is great that they are covering the anniversary so extensively, especailly exposing the deception 10 years ago and countering it with what we know now, however, there is such a thing as saturation.

And yes, MSNBC now is different than the MSNBC of 10 years ago, but with that said, it became what it is today around 5 or 6 years ago to be the antidote to the poison on Fox News. There was recently a report by Pew Research saying that MSNBC was more opinion based than news based than Fox....to that I say BS! Evening opinion shows on both networks aside, look at the morning shows. At least MSNBC has Joe Scarborough to give the Republican side and to spew his typical rhetoric. Fox, on the other hand, has 3 blabbering idiots who are unabashedly right-wing. There is no Democratic "counter" on in the AM.

But I am glad MSNBC is doing what they have been doing. The right-wing had about a 10 year advantage in having a television network, and as Fox grew, we were losing the battle. I'm glad now that we finally have a network to counter some of the ridiculous rhetoric.

I believe that is the principle behind MSNBC's red-hot criticism of the selling of the Iraq war.

MSNBC is not without blame. So I think they are just getting out in front of any criticism.

Its strange MSNBC is on from 4 in the morning till 8 P.M. because its background noise for my wife .I watch the same things presented by everyone all day long like its a company that makes one product .Tweety bugs me because he talked thru a speech by Rev Al at the Dem convention in 2004 , Tweety just bugs me even when I agree with him 100% naturally they show his show twice a day.
Hope I'm not the only one who wonders about MSNBC's mission plan but it may be all about the money.
