http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2012/02/01/planned-parenthood-sees-fundraising-spike-after-losing-big-supporter/Planned Parenthood reported on Wednesday raising $400,000 in the 24 hours following its announcement that a major backer, the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation, was ending its partnership with the group.
The major breast cancer research group cut its funds for breast screenings at Planned Parenthood amid increased scrutiny from Congress over how the prominent family planning organization provides abortion services.
In a statement Tuesday, Planned Parenthood said the Komen Foundation had "succumbed to political pressure," and on Wednesday, a spokesperson said its supporters responded in droves.
About 6,000 donors gave online contributions starting Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday afternoon, as news of the decision made headlines.

(24,411 posts)They've ticked off many men and women.
Also, corporations that put that Komen pink ribbon on their products might not so easily
sport that pink ribbon now. It has negative connotations now. Companies don't want
a controversial ribbon on their products. They associate themselves with Komen and the
pink ribbon--purely for marketing reasons. Because they feel that it gives consumers
a warm, fuzzy feeling that gets attached to their product.
Now, the ribbon is tainted. It could turn people away from products.
Those corporate donations were huge.

The major breast cancer research group cut its funds for breast screenings at Planned Parenthood amid increased scrutiny from Congress over how the prominent family planning organization provides abortion services.Amid? After an anti-choice VP joined Komen, a policy was instituted banning donations to organizations under governmental investigation. So much for presumption of guilt -- this was a deliberate setup!
Not only should we donate directly to PP, we should work on turning Komen into a "minor" breast cancer research group!
