Holy Hell they really are this stupid...

Last edited Mon Mar 18, 2013, 11:33 PM - Edit history (1)

The National Review’s Jillian Kay Melchior is ecstatic to find a black man shining shoes at the convention center where CPAC is being held.

With the amazingly tone-deaf title: Putting the Shine on CPAC.

CPAC participants enjoyed a particularly rare service at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center: The simple shoe shine.

And yes, they really did use this photo to illustrate the article:

You know that Republican “rebranding” meme they’ve been trying to push since they lost the election? In two days, CPAC has pretty much killed that meme dead.

edited to add:

Wright began shining shoes after the airline he once worked for defaulted on its pension obligations, driving him to find a source of income in retirement.

“I was able to create a pension for myself by creating an entrepreneurial activity,” Wright says. He noticed that fewer people were entering the shoe-shining profession, and “I saw that as an entrepreneurial opportunity” – an ethic that sits well with the CPAC crowd

between the batshit crazy rhetoric, the cluelessness exemplified by this picture, and the lineup of losers and has beens they had speaking.

They'll continue to sputter on in Dixie and in parts of the Moron Corridor, but that's about it.

God. He had to find a way to survive after getting shafted on his airline pension! I admire his drive but I am disgusted that we can't make pensions guaranteed.

Wright began shining shoes after the airline he once worked for defaulted on its pension obligations, driving him to find a source of income in retirement.

“I was able to create a pension for myself by creating an entrepreneurial activity,” Wright says. He noticed that fewer people were entering the shoe-shining profession, and “I saw that as an entrepreneurial opportunity” – an ethic that sits well with the CPAC crowd.

They take a tragic story of a man who is forced to spend his retirement shining shoes because his employer defaulted on his pension, and they make it sound like the man is an entrepreneur living the American dream.

First, they feel really sorry for a couple of rapists, THEN they think this shoe shine picture is supposed to make everyone feel real nostalgic ....or superior...or WTF I have no idea. The corporate/republican owned media and their CPAC sponsors.

They are so absolutely clueless.

and put it in the face of the gullible repeatedly as if it's the way it should be, the ignorant will believe it and follow it. I look at it as an opportunity to show how ugly and backward the RW can be and it seems logical that the rest of America can see it too. That just isn't the way it works. Repeat the lie and the stupid will follow.

Remember, this is the party who keeps losing elections by going to far to the right and then surmising that they're losing because their candidates aren't conservative enough. I defy anyone to find two working brain cells to rub together in that entire party.

It's a perfect Onion article.

The fact it's an actual article in the National Review is breathtaking in it's blindness.

This is why the conservatives believe that Colbert is an actual right wing show.

He's where he's at because of the unbridled corporatism (and it's usual shellacking of workers) that the Conservaturds wholeheartedly support. Mr. Wright was robbed of a retirement, but in the eyes of the Reaganites decided to "Make Lemonade".
