UPDATE: 3:40 p.m. -- Planned Parenthood announced on Wednesday that it has received $400,000 from about 6,000 donors since Komen announced it was cutting funding to the organization on Tuesday afternoon.

(644 posts)I also hope that other breast cancer charities benefit with funds removed from Susan G. Komen. Women's health is not a political basketball despite right wingers attempting to make it so!!

(1,248 posts)According to filings, Susan G. Komen contributed roughly $680,000 to just 19 of Planned Parenthoods 85 affiliates across the country. A wealthy couple in Texas, Amy and Lee Fikes, have reportedly pledged $250,000 to the organization upon hearing the news of Komens decision. And if the women raising hell online start putting their money where their mouths are, it seems a safe bet theyll quickly recoup any Pink Ribbon losses.
